Job Description:

Purpose:

Facilitates the development of global label and gift cartons with Suppliers, Agencies, or Corporate Design. Participates in vendor selection and qualification. Reviews both artwork and vendor proofs for printed materials such as gift cartons, labels, stickers, shrinkbands, and hangtags for validation copy and print execution. Develops or modifies artwork for stickers. Submits files to CRT or TTB for legal approval. Serves as Product Innovation Project Manager.

Responsibility: (Job Detail)

  • Legal Submissions – Prepares and confirms labels conform to CRT and/or TTB Federal guidelines. Submit labels to Legal Department for CRT and TTB filings.

  • Ensures printed materials, i.e., labels, shrinkbands, hangtags, stickers are accurate. Issues material specifications into ETQ for same printed materials.

  • Obtains vendor proof approvals by uploading and tracking vendor proofs in the Artwork Approval System. Facilitates and updates modifications on vendor proofs based on internal or market feedback.

  • Partners with Design and Packaging to determine appropriate print vendors for print jobs based on specification/technical requirements of jobs and printer’s capabilities.

  • Builds and maintains a strong partnership with vendors. Regularly communicates project efforts and status.

  • Keeps up-to-date on the latest printing advancements and technologies by attending training, conferences, seminars, and visiting suppliers. Communicates regularly with suppliers to obtain latest technologies and vendor capabilities.

  • Electronically files, maintains, and updates labels, shrink bands, stickers and hangtag graphics into BF Network and/or ETQ.

  • Initiates and ensures material substrate testing for labels, stickers, gift cartons, etc. is completed by the Packaging Lab. Orders label blanks for production line testing and/or change parts.

  • Serves as Project Manager for Product Innovations projects. Requiring collaboration with Marketing, Design, Supply Chain, Bottling Facilities, Legal, and Suppliers. Duties include the preparation of meeting agendas and minutes, timeline development and tracking, status reporting and facilitating meetings.

  • Creates or orders scannable electronic barcodes based on internal requests.

  • Demonstrates ability to work and communicate with diverse international people/groups and understand, respect, and appreciate the diverse differences.

  • Demonstrates oral and written communication skills with the ability to respond timely and effectively to multiple inquiries from a variety of internal and external contacts utilizing e-mail and other modes, especially in describing printed materials.

  • Adheres to standardized B-F Sourcing Policies and Procedures.

Must Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art/Graphic Design, or Package Engineering from a recognized school of packaging OR equivalent print production experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience using Adobe, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator for print and electronic publishing. Proficient in all design-related Macintosh software and an expert in creating final and working art files.

  • Excellent understanding of spectrophotometers and color tolerances. Must have the ability to analyze results of readings.

  • Demonstrates ability to work in a high pressure environment, meets deadlines, and simultaneously work on multiple assignments.

  • Demonstrates ability to coordinate packaging developments interdepartmentally (Design, Marketing, Engineering) and externally (suppliers, designers)

  • Demonstrates ability to make clear and concise oral written communications especially in describing materials and completed packages.

  • Demonstrates ability to work in an administrative capacity including budget development and control.

  • Demonstrates ability to work and communicate with diverse international teams and understand cultural differences affecting project execution.

  • Demonstrates superior behavior with timely responses and effectively handling multiple inquiries from internal and external partners.

  • Ability to travel to suppliers and bottling facilities.

  • Demonstrates mathematical skills, analytical capability and investigative/root cause capability to provide strong strategic support.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications: (including, education, certifications, training, industry, etc.)

  • Fundamental knowledge of packaging design.

  • IOPP (Institute of Packaging Professionals) certification

  • Master’s Degree in business or technical field
