Brown-Forman Bottling Maintenance Supervisor in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Scope of Position:
Responsible for the planning, scheduling and managing of bottling maintenance and preventive maintenance functions to support the bottling of approximately 17 million flat cases in the most effective way utilizing cost effective approaches within recommended guidelines, policies and budgetary constraints. Develops and supports the efforts of 30 mechanics and 20 Master Machine Operators to ensure quality of service to the bottling department. Manage the Bottling PM program on equipment valued over $30,000,000 and parts inventory over $750,000 to meet and exceed our OEE goals.
Plans, directs and monitors the bottling maintenance function including the maintenance, improvement and support of installation of all bottling equipment. Coordinates the efforts of bottling maintenance with bottling production, general maintenance, outside vendors and contractors. Fosters empowerment and provides the required resources to support and develop the natural work team. Assures integration with and coordination between the bottling maintenance personnel and the bottling line team. Monitors new line requirements and directs as necessary. Provides leadership and direction to department personnel for preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance work.
Manage the efforts of the bottling maintenance team in the ongoing tasks of maintaining and improving all bottling and bottling related equipment in the most effective manner within all company, corporate, and governmental/regulatory guidelines and policies affecting safety, quality, sanitation, and budgetary considerations
Manages Bottling Maintenance daily operations utilizing CMMS/SAP to insure Company and Corporate goals are achieved
Supports ost savings initiatives by developing, imitating and implementing self-generated and department personnel ideas all to meet the departments’ and site’s annual budgets.
Helps manage maintenance parts, material inventory, and work orders, using CMMS/SAP. Responsibilities include parts and materials control, requisitioning and verifying invoices. Responsible for the processing and maintaining work orders, time sheets, equipment records, procedure manuals, files and reports.
Directs preventive and predictive maintenance activities and programs as well as line change-over activities to maximize bottling line production availability.
Prepares, monitors, and responsible for maintenance operational budget and capital/major maintenance projects for Bottling Maintenance within Corporate and Company guidelines.
Provides technical support, guidance and engineering solutions to bottling mechanics and troubleshoots any mechanical, electrical, or computer related problems. Provides appropriate training on equipment and procedures to mechanics and MMO’s.
Coordinates projects with general maintenance, purchasing, outside vendors and contractors, and appropriate corporate personnel to improve and/or modify equipment and operations.
Recommends and implements improvements to production facilities, equipment, and procedures to reduce operating costs, improve product quality, increase productivity, and maintain or exceed production requirements.
Coaches, facilitates and provides resources for the development and support of the natural work team.
Maintains good working relationships with other departments.
Must Requirements (including any physical requirements):
Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 years maintenance manufacturing experience or Bachelor's Degree + 5 years manufacturing related experience.
Demonstrated mechanical ability to assess performance of equipment used in production operations
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, internal and external
Ability to manage and complete assigned workload independently within established deadlines
Ability to work whenever needed to meet departmental goals, nights, weekends and holidays
Must be able to keep current on technology of packaging equipment
Must possess computer skills – Excel, Word, CMMS
Great communication skills both written and verbal
Maintenance Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
Management/supervisory experience within distilled spirits industry
Experience in a technical role in a Packaging and/or Bottling operation
SAP Experience #SM 1
