Inventory Control Specialist

(Temporary Role – Employed through Kelly Services)

Woodford Reserve Distillery Gift Shop

Scope of Position: Working under the direction of the Retail Assistant at the Woodford Reserve Gift Shop, this position involves working closely with all retail staff, delivery company personnel, and Guest Services staff.

Primarily responsible for assisting in creating and maintaining inventory records, accurate inventory counts, pricing merchandise, and maintaining inventory sheets. Must also provide backup for other areas of the operation which include: shipping, cashiering, re-stocking all areas, answering phone and providing excellent customer service.

  • Receives, unpacks, sorts and inspects delivered incoming merchandise, supplies and materials; confirms that delivered goods match the purchase order specifications of quantity, description, condition, costs, etc. and completes necessary paperwork. Compares PO to packing list and invoice for accuracy prior to initialing and passing to retail assistant for receiving into retail system

  • Assists retail coordinator in the shipping of customer orders

  • Compile and maintain records and reports involving each inventory item or inventory category, receiving history, adjustments records, and other reports may be necessary

  • Conducts weekly cycle counts of randomly selected inventory; spot check inventory by performing daily inventory counts on specific items or categories. Reconcile actual stock/inventory counts against computer-generated reports. Investigate inventory differences and discrepancies to a satisfactory conclusion

  • Assists in preparing for and conducting physical inventory counts annually, or as deemed necessary

  • Responsible for receiving and unloading morning pallet deliveries

  • Monitors SKUs and pricing labels on merchandise to ensure items, labels and SKUs (including size, color) match exactly

  • Organize and maintain the inventory storage and staging areas for efficiency

  • Monitor and alert management to low inventory levels, abnormal trending for operational supplies and inventory

  • Effectively communicate inventory statuses and issues to management

  • Will function as a backup in the absence of the Retail Assistant or Retail Coordinator

  • Will function as the lead in the absence of the retail management team

  • Will be cross-trained in all areas of the retail operation

  • Performs related duties as required


  • Strong math skills

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Inventory or warehouse experience preferred

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Knowledge of inventory and database

  • A minimum of 2 years of retail experience

  • Strong communication skills

  • High accountability

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Able to lift 25 lbs regularly, move and occasionally lift 100+ lbs (with assistance), bend and reach. Physical activity on a regular basis is required

  • Ability to work well with others and contribute positively to the Woodford Reserve Team
