Brown-Forman Assistant Controller in Amatitán, Mexico

Directly responsible for the analysis and projection for the production variance, costing process, support for the budget expenses for Casa Herradura Operations which includes Agave Farm Operations and Sourcing, Distillery, Warehousing, Processing, and Bottling/Canning Operations. Related brands include Herradura, El Jimador, Antiguo, Pepe Lopez, and New Mix. This position directly supervises two finance and accounting professionals.

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership and Analysis (50%)

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual closing functions and related analysis of production cost and variance from standard cost for the Casa Herradura process, (Field, Distillation, Aging, Process and Tequila and RTDs Bottlings) Provide and interpret analysis to the Controller, management team and Global Production Finance as needed.

Prepare the monthly closing function and related analysis of production cost and variance from standard cost. Provide and interpret analysis and B-F Global Production Finance.

Support the annual process to develop cost standards for materials produced at Casa Herradura. This involves using SAP knowledge of activity rates and bill of materials and reviewing the standard calculations for all the production processes at Casa Herradura.

Coordinate the preparation of production facilities' cost budgeting and associated direct and indirect materials.

Assist with developing and maintaining the annual operations budget for Casa Herradura production cost centers. Monitor monthly spending in relation to the budgets and alert operations and management of budget variances.

Direct supervision of two direct reports: Senior Financial Analyst-Costing, and Senior Financial Analyst-Accounting. Manage the selection, termination, development and motivation of each team member. Recognizes and rewards diversity practices.

Controlling, Accounting and Compliance (25%)

Responsible for balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis for production operations. Responsible for periodic general ledger closing cycle and subsequent preparation of financial statements and related analyses to accurately reflect business activity based on US generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP).

Works collaboratively with the Brown-Forman Tequila Mexico commercial controlling area to ensure the accuracy and completeness of Mexico tax and statutory reporting. This includes compliance with external audits, providing analysis of cost variances, ensuring compliance with Payroll and Accounts Payable policies, and maintaining effective communication between the two controlling areas.

Review and report findings regarding all inventory adjustments, including cycle counts. Identify and monitor slow moving and obsolete inventory, coordinate adjustments with logistics/materials management.

Formulate and prepare financial projections (Cash flow) for the commercial site and budgets.

Operational Partnership (25%)

Provides financial leadership in the Continuous Improvement process supporting TPM team deployment.

Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all financial records, financial statements, as well as supporting management reports (KPIs).

Participates on project teams to drive operational efficiencies and process improvements. Quantification of the benefits of these initiatives through OEE calculation, or other financial and cost metrics.

Required Experience & Education:

Education: College/University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or other Business-related

Experience: .5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment including accounting management experience. Demonstrated proficiency in applying US GAAP principles.

.Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

.Ability to build productive relationships and partnerships and influence others. Excellent business planning and analytical skills.

.Proficiency with Microsoft office (advanced excel) and Google software. Comfortable with complex data sources and understands the importance of data integrity.

.Demonstrated proficiency with SAP-ERP software (or a similar ERP system)
