Brown-Forman Human Resources Manager - Field in Amatitán, Mexico

What You Will Do in This Role :

Lead all Human Resource initiatives and needs in BFTM or VAMA, supporting approximately 450/400 union employees as well as non-union employees. Supervises two direct, salaried reports.

Acting as a strategic business partner and a consultant to align operations objectives with employees and management. Will be responsible for talent acquisition, performance and leadership coaching, employee training and development, communication, employee & labor relations, and other activities to build management strength and leadership capability. Fosters a culture of teamwork, learning and continuous improvement. Promotes a shared understanding of organizational values, operating principles, and cultural change imperatives and work to align overall HR policies and processes to support the achievement of the business unit goals.

What You Can Expect:

Employee & labor relations: engage and support regularly with line management in creating a positive and productive employee relations environment while providing feedback for proactive intervention and resolution of people-related concerns, including union workers complaints.

  • Manage overall labor contract preparations and negotiations

  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations of employee situations

  • Manage HR data and record keeping of employee complaints, investigations, IDP´s & PIP´s.

  • Escalate complex employee relations issues with HR Snr Manager.

Coach & Facilitate: Provide direction and support on day-to-day HR management processes, facilitating the execution of people and business strategies through people and organizational development. Partners with the leadership teams to execute people strategies, policies, and procedures.

  • Provide coaching, training, and guidance for effective use of HR processes and policies to managers, supervisors, team leaders and employees (e.g. performance management, career development, disciplinary process, code of conduct interpretation).

  • Work closely with management and employees to promote positive relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

Performance Management: Oversees and supports Corporate performance management activities via auditing and monitoring the annual Performance and Growth Planning (PGP) process ensuring timely completion to facilitate goal alignment, rating decisions, merit, and bonus decisions.

  • Provide counsel with managers and employees on the performance management process including coordinating performance/development plans.

  • Assist employees in aligning personal goals and development plans with the overall CH goals.

  • Provide support to leaders to ensure robust conversations between managers and employees regarding performance, including honest and accurate feedback.

Training & Development: Assist line management in identifying and coordinating activities/opportunities for hourly and salaried employees to improve knowledge and skills by assessing training needs of employees; communicating training offerings and ensuring participation.

  • Facilitate training & integration sessions, including the new leader integration strategy.

  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.

  • Provide career counseling

Talent Acquisition: Actively participate in the selection and placement of highly capable talent, i.e., getting the right people in the right jobs, based on a full understanding of the business, its culture, and key goals. Manages the recruitment with the local Talent Acquisition Partner to ensure the process runs smoothly to build the best, diverse workforce.

  • Identify new roles and/or existing job openings that must be filled to support the department's goals.

  • Interview candidates using the targeted selection methodology and moderate debrief sessions.

  • Coordinate the hiring process and onboarding of new company members.

Change & Diversity Management: Lead organization and culture change initiatives to build in operational flexibility, diversity management and leadership capability, acting as a change agent.

  • Lead by example in the diversity and inclusion strategy for the company actively engaging in this work and creating an environment of inclusive leadership.

  • Partner with leaders in change efforts for the organization providing coaching in the CM framework that facilitates the desired outcome.

HR projects: Leads and manages HR projects as assigned.

We Are Looking For People Who :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related fields

  • Experience of 5-7 years as HR generalist in production human resource management (preferably in a unionized facility). Equivalent education and experience combinations will be considered, including experience in any Human Resources functions.

  • Demonstrated experience aligning HR initiatives to business needs.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of applicable employment and labor laws.

  • Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Advanced English level (oral, written).

  • In the case of VAMA: travel to field bases to support operation but not to exceed 25%

Competencies :

  • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching and counsel on sensitive employee, leader and organization issues

  • Ability to build relationships and trust with all levels of employees and build strong partnership with the business leaders and with the union representatives.

  • Proven ability to communicate and facilitate discussions and/or training in one-on-one and group settings.

  • High degree of maturity, credibility, confidentiality, integrity, and professional ethics.

  • Able to show understanding of the HR profession/function and legal ramifications of non-compliance.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence others

  • High degree of personal credibility stemming from the person’s ability to be objective, confidential, exercise integrity and sound judgment.

  • Relationship management

  • Consultation and critical evaluation skills

What You Can Add to the Team :

  • Master’s degree in business or HR related discipline

  • Human Resource and manufacturing experience in both union and non-union environments.

  • Participation in union negotiations.

  • Project management experience

  • Change management experience
