Brown-Forman Manager Supply Chain Operations - Spain (Mat Cover approx. 6 months) in Barcelona, Spain

Scope:

The initiated “Route To Consumer” (RTC) evolution in Spain, the resulting operations scheme as well as the market environment’s complexity require a solid, efficient and precise operational steerage and execution of supply chain routine processes and at the same time demand thoughtful trouble shooting and operational decision taking on daily basis to maintain and continuously enhance service levels, efficiency and process rigor.

The overall responsibility of this role is to lead a local team of specialists in order to support the market’s future growth and to safeguard product availability and business continuity at any time. Building the operational face to local customers and to lead respectively support other functions, such as sales, finance, accounting, etc. in standard processes along the order to cash cycle is in scope and focus of this role as well as providing flexible and expert support on promotional and marketing projects and activities.

Beyond effectively managing and supporting a team of four direct reports in planning, customer service and purchasing functions, a key success criteria of the role is to build and maintain efficient and collaborative working relationships with the supply chain counterparts on area, regional and corporate level as well as a variety of other functional leaders in Spain.

Tactical Supply Chain implications of strategic Supply Chain and RTC initiatives as driven through regional and corporate Supply Chain Management will require the role’s in-country support in implementation.

Basic Function:

  • Manage Supply chain function for BF Spain: logistics, planning, customs, tax stamp and excise management and customer service.

  • Oversee Monthly Supply Chain Close processes.

  • Collaborate with the Area and Regional Supply Chain Management to analyze, develop, enhance implement and operate logistics operations and standard operating procedures for Spain, compliant with corporate standards.

  • Be the first contact for all logistics relevant aspects and the interface to the third party logistic provider; this includes the integration of systems, reporting, etc.

  • Cooperate with the third party logistics provider to ensure supply flow of products.

  • Review and Approve Third Party Logistics invoices.

  • Cooperate with other departments of the company (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain Integration) to ensure right stock level of products for domestic and travel retail sales in order to avoid out-of- stocks.

  • Supervise and support escalation as needed for the demand planning and Sales & Operations Planning(S&OP) process; inclusive of BF Spain local marketing, sales, finance, and supply chain personnel.

  • Advise Risk Management on stocking levels and distribution projections to ensure proper insurance coverage for goods in the warehouse, during transit, etc.

  • Cooperate with the Logistics provider in the area of import and customs procedures.

  • Collaborate with other departments such as accounting in the various tax filings with authorities like:Ministry of Finance, Customs Office, etc.

  • Supervise deliveries and stock movements concerning customs and excise clearance according to the company policy and import/customs procedures.

  • Manage the appropriate and transparent flow and administration of excise tax stamps.

  • Monitor and advise any changes to import/excise tax procedures and rates.

  • Prepare and Communicate monthly Supply Chain KPIs for Spain

  • Revise Daily KPIs from Third Party Logistics Provider, with a specific focus on Open Sales Orders and Returns, and Pending PODS

  • Collaborate with the Internal and External Auditors in regards to Fiscal Year End Closing Procedures for Inventory and Sales Orders.

Must Experience:

  • Bachelor or similar education (apprenticeship in commercial profession)

  • 5+ years in Logistics, import department/area, Supply Chain

Skills:

  • Very good communication and problem solving skills

  • Very good analytical skills

  • Native/Expert command of Spanish language, speaking and writing

  • Solid command of English language, speaking and writing

  • Solid knowledge of Financial / ERP System – SAP (MM, SD, APO) Applications

  • IT literate (good knowledge in MS Excel)
