Brown-Forman Quality Control & Compliance Manager in Collingwood, Canada
Responsible for leading Quality and Environment at the Canadian Mist Distillery located in Collingwood, Ontario. Manage and coordinate all Quality and Environmental activities for the Canadian Mist Distillery. Responsible for managing the Quality and Environmental capabilities for the production of approximately 6.5 million O.P.G.’s annually and annual sales volumes of approximately $20 million.
Plans and leads the activities of the Quality Control Department which includes raw material quality control, finished goods quality control, and sanitation. Serves as primary site liaison with Research and Development. Ensures that the site is in compliance with local Environmental Regulations and assures that mandatory reporting to Federal, Provincial and Municipal Authorities is completed as required. Leads the site TPM Environment Pillar and participates and supports site TPM activities. Serves as the principal technical resource on site in the areas of fermentation, distillation, maturation and by-product production. Additionally he/she has Inventory Management and Safety responsibilities. This position also serves as backup to the Distillery Manager and Warehouse Manager positions.
Manages the implementation and maintenance of quality compliance for Canadian Mist. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and controlling the site Quality Control system in line with Corporate Standards.
Design and manage appropriate systems for analysis, reporting, and communication of quality data through all phases of production.

Directs, coordinates, and conducts activities to ensure compliance at all times with established quality standards and specifications.
Manages all aspects of the Quality Control Laboratory
Plan and direct appropriate sampling, inspection, and testing of purchased materials, work in process, by-products
Maintains current awareness of all Canadian regulations for the manufacture of distilled spirit.
Leads the Canadian Mist Environmental Pillar.
Recruit, supervise, develop, and evaluate staff as required to conduct all quality control activities. Lead and develop professional employees to result in growth in expertise, industry knowledge, and career opportunity.
Interacts with production management to ensure timely investigations and ensure a timely resolution of quality concerns. Recommends corrective action.
Required Experience & Education:
Education: University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Engineering, Chemistry or another Science discipline.
Experience: University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Engineering, Chemistry or another Science discipline, plus 5+ years of experience in production and/or quality control. Equivalent education and experience combinations will be considered.
Experience in the food and beverage industry.
Minimum 5 years supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership ability.
Strong oral and written communication skills – ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues to all levels of employees.
Strong interpersonal skills – ability to effectively influence others.
Thorough knowledge of quality systems.
Knowledgeable in the application of statistics in process control, design of experiments, and data analysis.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and budgets.
Strong analytical/mathematical skills including statistics.
Experienced in TPM Implementation and Pillar Development
Preferred Experience & Education:
Education: Masters Degree (M.A., MBA or Equivalent);
Experience: Graduate degree in a relevant field.
Professional certification in quality management (such as Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Manager of Quality)
Training/education in continuous improvement methodologies and demonstrated track record of implementing in a manufacturing environment and supporting a sustainable CI culture.
