Meaningful Work From Day One
Responsible for overseeing and managing quality, environmental and safety operations of Chambord Liquor produced by Chambord Liqueur Royale de France, at Cour-Cheverny, France. Establish and build strong professional relationships with the Chambord team, Brown Forman team and all raw material suppliers. Responsible for driving EHS compliance for the Chambord Liqueur operation.
Manage the quality at the production site. Provide direction and support to the teams in projects related to quality improvements, recipe changes, line issues or packaging materials. Leads the establishment and maintenance of quality levels of products through the execution of quality systems and food safety management systems at Chambord Liqueur. Drives continuous improvements initiatives and to coach and develop the local QC resources technical and system competencies. Responsible for the leadership, development, implementation, and management of all Quality Assurance programs, projects, activities and provides technical expertise to ensure compliance to GFSI, Brown-Forman QA systems, regulatory requirements, product quality, and food safety. Utilizes tools such as auditing, process evaluation, complaint analysis, trend analysis to achieve continuous improvement and business objectives. In collaboration with the Operations and Finance Manager, leads and implements the B-F safety and environment metrics ensuring the scorecards and corrective action plans are phased in an achievable timeline whilst ensuring prioritisation where required.
What You Can Expect
Ensure the production site respects the Quality Systems Manual. Provide revisions and updates from the Quality Manual.
Ensure compliance of the audit programs for internal and external audits
Conduct Quality Systems and Hygiene and Sanitation Audits once a year.
Monitor the overall quality of the liquor on a continuous basis, provide support in resolving quality issues and initiate improvements
Execute GAP analysis of quality and food safety systems and drive investigations and RCCA/CAPA to prevent issue reoccurrence
Creation of Global Brown-Forman QA policies, procedures, and forms to assure alignment of QA systems across global business.
Ensure compliance to Brown-Forman, country, and regional standards. Identify and apply “Best Practices” within the facility or from the broader network
Drive the daily, weekly and monthly KPI outcomes through coaching and developing the workforce in quality control and continuous improvement.
Projects and initiatives related to new packages or packaging materials
Manage the production site in new package projects or packaging material change initiatives.
Coordinate with B-F Packaging related to any technical packaging material changes initiated by the vendors. Ensure only approved packaging materials are used. Coordinate packaging material testing at Packaging Lab.
Attends packaging material production runs when needed. Write and update work procedures related to gift packing and other reworking activities
Act as a liaison between the production site, BF R&D, Engineering, QA and Packaging.Collaborate with R&D and other project team members in new introductions, assess capabilities with regard to quality.
Ensure proper startup of new products at facilities, achieving agreed upon timelines and compliance with Brown-Forman requirements.
Promote quality awareness and ownership across the value chain
Sensory and Analytical Control – Laboratory Capabilities
Ensure team members are trained in BF sensory and analytical methods. Ensure that the equipment can meet BF specification and calibration program and that benchmark testing is in place.
Ensure the production site subscribes to generally accepted Good Manufacturing Processes and meet food standards and applicable country specific regulations; ensure site controllers are in possession of (and follow) current BF specifications. Ensure the production site has maintenance and calibration programs in place. Ensure critical control point procedures are established and adhered to. Ensure BF housekeeping and sanitation procedures are followed to avoid any cross contamination, ensure agreed sampling plan is followed.
Ensure the production site communicates complaints. Follow-up on vendor complaints and, as required, ensure that corrective actions are taken and adhered to. Make recommendations for changes to suppliers as required for smooth and cost-effective operation of the business. Liaise with Chambord Liqueur and BF Packaging to facilitate the introduction of new suppliers to the operation.
EHS Compliance and System Management
Regulatory and Company requirements - Is responsible for identifying EHS regulatory requirements (National, local, company) and developing programs/systems to ensure ongoing compliance. This may include writing procedures, development and delivery of training to site personnel, developing awareness activities, setting goals, priorities, and objectives for safety practices and conducting environmental monitoring. Monitors and audits operational activities and performance at the Chambord Liqueur location to ensure compliance with EHS systems and requirements.
Documentation - Ensures all required EHS system documentation including logs, audits, manuals, accident reports and investigations, required training documentation, HAZMAT documentation and all other required or applicable EHS related documentation is properly executed, maintained, and stored.
Training – Partners with site leadership to develop EHS training plans and ensure EHS training requirements are met.
Housekeeping and sanitation - Make regular plant safety and housekeeping audits and issue reports. Partners with site leadership on corrective and preventative actions resulting from the audits.
Site EHS Committee - Lead and facilitate the monthly internal meeting with the site safety and environment committee.
Work Accident – Near Misses: Is responsible for preparing the statements (local French declarations and company). Is responsible for planning the pre audit, and for managing the root cause analysis with the EHS Committee. Is responsible to implement an action plan and to follow it up.
Manage and coordinate counterfeit suspect sample analyses.
Participate and follow up in QSE budget and capital development.
Develop and implement cost savings projects
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
A BS degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering, related technical field or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering is considered an asset.
5+ experience in a production quality related position.
Strong technical and operational understanding of food and beverages production processes.
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Six Sigma Concepts
