Brown-Forman Accounting Analyst (Latin America & Caribbean) in Guadalajara, Mexico
The Accounting Analyst supports the Mexico & LAC Team Lead and is responsible for a wide range of accounting for LAC (Latin America & Caribbean region). This position will work with LAC Finance (including Mexico and Brazil) and other cross functional groups within the organization. This position will lead initiatives to identify accounting, process or SOX control issues within LAC; will have an opportunity to recommend process re-engineering to drive accuracy and efficiency; and will work with the Mexico and LAC Controllers to strategize accounting and control advice to the region’s Controller and Finance leads.
Prepare LAC Full Accrual entry (i.e. estimate of brand expense)
Prepare payroll journal entries based on data provided by third party processor and Corporate teams.
Perform Colombian bookkeeping, coordinate MSA payments and maintain cash flow.
Manage miscellaneous journal entries, e.g. consultants or agencies expenses accruals, payments and prepaid amortization
Review Blue Sheet Reports accounting related to A&P and Discounts (paid thru Distributors) as such as complete payment process by using Prodagio and Coupa.
Ensure accuracy and documentation of reclass entries and year-end accruals requested by region’s finance team
Manage year-end accounting close process for CCSA
Prepare Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliations
Ensure SOX Control compliance
Analytics and Advisory:
Work with NAR Finance to understand significant Full Accrual adjustments
Review contracts prior to execution (e.g., consultants, licenses, commissions) and determine accounting treatment and provide business advice
Lead LAC Accounting training.
Country Tax/Legal Liaison:
Work with the local tax and advisory firms on posting the corresponding entries to USGAAP books
Ensure statutory compliance is met in accordance with tax firm agreements
Prepare reconciliations between local statutory books and corporate USGAAP books
Coordinate monthly MSA invoicing and payment (includes coordinating Central Bank currency authorizations)
File Argentinian Corporate Income Tax Return.
File Puerto Rico Sales Tax and Use Return.
Assist/Lead Special Projects and Initiatives.
Analyze and implement US GAAP requirements e.g. change in GAAP for revenue recognition, expense classification changes/reviews, etc.
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related with solid knowledge in accounting field.
3 a 4 years of experence in accounting field (accounting records, closing processes, reconciliations, payroll records).
-Preferably in transnational companies.
Knowledge / Personal Skills:
English (Advanced or 90 % - MUST)
Extensive knowledge in Administration and General Accounting
Knowledge of USGAAP, SOX.
