Brown-Forman Senior Accountant - Africa / GTR in Gurgaon, India

Responsible for Brown-Forman’s US GAAP, statutory accounting, management reporting, local compliance and certain financial analysis for Africa and GTR. The business in these regions is growing and diverse and it includes a variety of business models. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of Brown-Forman’s financial records with respect to (a) US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), (b) local statutory requirements, (c) all relevant tax regimes, including US and local income tax purposes as well as local consumption tax/ VAT/ GST, and (d) management reporting.

Responsibilities:

 Manage accounting results of Africa and GTR region to ensure

compliance with USGAAP and local statutory requirements.

 Manage the bookkeeping, cash flow and tax compliance of the Africa

business, ensuring to meet all the local tax and mercantile deadlines

as well as corporate and reporting deadlines. This includes income tax,

withholding tax, GST, advance tax and transfer pricing requirements,

primarily for Africa.

 Preparation of accounting entries and/or compilation and review of all

the information and data received from the service providers for all the

markets in the region

 Process local transactions (vendor invoices and T&E claims) for Africa,

including recording of entries and initiating payments

 Maintain Asset Register, manage CAPEX transactions and related

agenda

 Assist the Finance teams by providing superior accounting support.

Actively participates in the accounting/finance process by providing

insight and support to the Accounting Manager and Regional

Controller.

 Liaise with tax consultants, third party accountants and internal and

external auditors for issues and questions regarding the business unit.

 Coordinate with payroll providers to ensure smooth processing of

payroll, related compliances and accurate booking of entries

 Maintain MSA in accordance with local statutory requirements. Manage

intercompany and expatriate accounting and billing.

 Prepare tax reporting packages and account reconciliations.

 Make accruals and adjustments on a monthly basis.

 Monthly journal entry submissions on salesforce for individual line

items over USD50K

 AP/AR revaluation

 Cash management

 Support with ad-hoc projects (new systems implementation, process

improvement etc)

 Miscellaneous reclassifications and adjustments

Requirements:

 Bachelor in Accounting or Finance or Commerce plus three to five

years of experience in accounting field. Demonstrated knowledge of

generally accepted accounting principles (US and local)and financial

reporting / analysis.

 Experience with local accounting and tax practices and regulatory/

compliance requirements, especially those of US GAAP

 Chartered Accountant or equivalent

 Prior experience in working with SAP, or exposure to another ERP and

ability to learn SAP quickly

 High Level of Proficiency in MS office Suits – Excel and Word.

 Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to produce accurate

results

 Self starter, Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and

Accommodate to business partners in different time zones.

 Ability to work with heavy workloads and complete high quality work

product within established time frames.

 Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop

and maintain effective business relationships.
