Brown-Forman Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager Germany, Czechia & Others in Hamburg, Germany

Job Description:


Lead Brown-Forman efforts in Germany to maintain the best operating environment possible for

our business through external engagement, corporate social responsibility, and effective

internal and external communication. Provide consulting support in these same areas to

Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, and Brown-Forman’s East & West Balkan clusters.

  1. Corporate Affairs:

o With respect to industry associations (IAs) based in Germany, including BSI

  • Support the General Manager (GM) and the German Leadership Team (GLT) in their participation in the BSI Council and relevant committees

  • Represent BF on government relations and policy committees, engage with Corporate Affairs reps from other companies to improve BSI operations, strategy, and preparation for the future

o Rationalize and manage the consulting contract for Berlin monitoring and


o Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with relevant policymakers and

relevant national and European parliamentarians

o Offer consulting support for market leaders outside Germany with regard to the

trade association (TA) involvement

  • Monitor spirits EUROPE (sE) and IARD information on initiatives in all covered markets; consult/inform local management as appropriate and make recommendations on engagement when warranted

  • Respond to questions from local management

  • Conduct background discussions with Corporate Affairs staff from other companies when needed

  • Provide strategy advice regarding TA operations

2.Alcohol Responsibility

o Be the responsibility committee sponsor for Germany; consultant for Czechia and to GM for Southern and Eastern Europe

o Working with the GLT, ensure B-F’s commitment to promoting moderation and intelligent drinking, selling, and hosting is reflected in brand, country, and promotional plans and in discussions with key customers and partners

  1. Internal Communications

o In consultation with GM, HR Director and GLT, lead major internal communications initiatives

o Provide consulting support to HR for internal communications for Czechia

o Oversee translation of major corporate communications to the German organization

  1. External Communications:

o Work with the external consultant on external communications plan for Germany

o Support GM and GLT in preparation for external interviews; coordinate with Louisville Corporate Communications as needed

o Oversee external agency maintenance of BF Germany’s external website

  1. Subject matter expert for Europe:

o Act as lead subject matter expert for Europe on two to three subject areas (e.g. labeling) to be determined in collaboration with other members of the Europe Communications and Corporate Affairs team

Must Experience:

  • University degree in communication or related field

  • Extensive experience in either communications or corporate affairs

  • Media relations experience

  • Work experience in German and English

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in working in an international environment

  • Experience in a matrix organizational structure

  • Experience in the FMCG industry

  • Experience in the beverage category will be highly regarded

  • Social media knowledge

  • Project development & planning


  • Strong capacities of written and oral communication

  • Fluency (written and spoken) in both German and English; knowledge of Czech will be highly regarded
