Meaningful Work From Day One

The position’s scope is to positively influence company behavior through all elements of Marketing Mix by identifying market & category insights from various market data sources. This position is responsible for delivering analyses about the different channels (on-trade, off-trade and e-commerce) and of market trends, developing tools & reports in close co-operation with marketing & sales teams. Automation of reporting and development of KPI Dashboards is also one key responsibility of the Senior Market & Category Insights Manager. The owner of this role proactively collaborates with the European and global BBI community and acts as an interface between Brand Management, Trade Marketing, Sales and Finance, providing insights about channels and performance of the BF brands as well as identifying additional areas for growth within existing and new customers. The Senior MCIM plays a key role in Brown-Forman’s objective to build a reputation as an entrepreneurially spirited company, dedicated to achieving sustainable long-term growth that acts as a trusted partner. This position will be responsible for a Channel Analyst.

What You Can Expect

Market & Category understanding:

  • Responsible for continuous market data such as retail scanner data (IRI/Nielsen), IWSR, GfK, Fox Intelligence customer portals as well as data and information about on-trade and ecommerce

  • Responsible for building insightful channel reports and dashboards and enforcing their automation.

  • Key contact for retail panel providers like Nielsen, GfK and Orderbird: Ensures the validity and quality of the data by managing the external agencies, ensuring efficient processes and controlling incoming data prior to further distribution - Lead the analysis of market & category data from channel perspective to inform the

business on a regular basis with a topline synthesis of key development, issues and opportunities

  • Track market trends of spirits categories, our brands and the B-F competition in the specific channels and customers

  • Drive channel capabilities including category management knowhow within the organization, especially within key account management

  • Support annual brand planning by providing Brand Teams with understanding on latest market, category and channel developments, issues & opportunities - Create and develop reports based on available market data

Sales support

  • Lead the development of the annual negotiation material for sales teams and significantly contribute content

  • Proactively provide key information and data on market, category & channels to spot areas for grows in th B-F customers

  • Throughout the year, provide trade marketing with relevant information to help develop sell-in stories for key accounts

  • Ensure frequent promotion evaluations and derives optimization recommendations - Lead and orchestrate the Channel Vision Strategy process to define focus areas for the B-F channel & key account management

  • Explore potentials in less exploited channels like on-trade and esp. e-commerce through data analyses

  • Ad-hoc analysis on customer specific questions that go beyond sales analyst capabilities

  • Support of KAM in key strategic customer visits

People Management:

  • Lead, coach and develop a Channel Insights Analyst

  • Set targets and keep track of execution

  • Discuss and align development plans

  • Proactive stakeholder management within the local market as well as in the - European and global BBI and Commercial community

What You Bring To The Table

  • A Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Sales or Business related field or comparable work experience

  • Demonstrable experience with Category Management and/or market research in consumer goods (preference beverages)

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative research skills and understanding of / exposure to qualitative research

  • Strong oral & written communication in English and German; proficient Google, Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills and relevant database and business warehouse programs

  • Good German market knowledge (retail, consumer, trade)

  • Excellent analytic and strategic understanding

  • Management of research studies – Able to instigate, shape and manage research projects, processes and teams and agencies, from briefing to action oriented debrief, ensuring all are inspired and motivated to deliver to the highest standards
