Brown-Forman Associate Scientist - Microbiology in Louisville, Kentucky
Supports Research and Development projects with pre-defined analytical testing on alcoholic beverages and ingredients. Participates in the determination of appropriate testing to answer questions/solve problems.
Implements testing and analyzes and interprets data. Reports findings and business conclusions and makes recommendations to customers. Adjusts existing analytical methods to specific project needs. Supports plant micro functions as needed. Maintains and troubleshoots analytical equipment as needed. Works with a minimum of supervision and direction.
Takes test requests from internal customers; determines testing from set of pre-established methods and implements testing; with minimum supervision. 30%
Conducts routine laboratory analysis, supports plant staff as needed for routine micro functions. 20%
Analyzes data using established methods, issues reports and communicates results to internal customers; with minimum supervision. 15%
With minimum supervision leads and coordinates the implementation of assigned projects internal to own function. 15%
Participates in the design of internal research projects. 10%
Ensures implementation of testing generates accurate results following established procedures such as routine calibration, training etc. 10%
Required Experience & Education:
Bachelors Degree in Microbiology or Biology or related Science
Experience: 1-2 yrs experience
• Experience with a broad range of analytical methods and equipment
• Experience with GC necessary and HPLC techniques a plus
• Analytical instrument troubleshooting
• Database experience
• Knowledge of statistics
• Strong documentation and reporting skills
Three years, or more, of experience in the industry.
