Brown-Forman Brown-Forman Bottling Operations Production Planning Manager in Louisville, Kentucky

Meaningful Work From Day One This role leads and directs strategic planning and scheduling for Brown-Forman Bottling. Creates viable long range production plans that effectively utilize site resources and meet customer demands. Responsible for Master Production Planning and scheduling of 6.5 million cases of finished goods annually in a highly complex production environment while supporting 8 Brands and each brand’s strategy, product launch, and re-design. Contributions are measured primarily through customer service key performance indicators, minimizing out of stocks, and supporting company and site inventory objectives. This role also serves as lead contact and liaison with glass supplier and PET supplier. Create strategic annual glass demand plans.

What You Can Expect

Leads and directs production plans to support 6.5 million cases across two production sites and four bottling lines. 300,000 of these cases for a contract customer.

Execution of the Master Production Schedule. Interfaces with Supply Chain, Packaging, Brand Management and Finance partners to strategically develop long range plans for 6.5 million cases.

Evaluates operational constraints to establish and maintain detailed weekly bottling schedules which include but not limited to size mix, raw material availability, bulk whiskey availability, maintenance change overs, manpower, and plant efficiencies.

Administers the manufacturing order cycle including creating, firming up, and maintaining process orders in SAP. Tracks orders to completion using SAP

Leads the development and expansion of the Sales & Operation Planning process at BFB.

Manages plant inventory to achieve site and corporate objectives. Reviews customer demand by market and negotiates delivery dates when necessary. Plan inventory builds as needed to support for, capital projects and routine maintenance projects, planned plant shutdowns and to meet brand promotions. Manage capacity and inventory control at multiple warehouse locations.

The SPP Manager works closely with the BFDO Leadership team to develop annual labor budgets, line utilization, multi-site inventory target levels, and overall equipment efficiency targets. In addition, this role is expected to prepare monthly inventory reports for the Global Production Senior Leadership Team.

Managed 2 direct reports and demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and inspire teams.

Packaging consists of 34 different package bottle changes, 344 SKUs, utilizing packaging and processing components valued at over 70 million dollars annually produced across 2 production sites and 4 bottling lines.

Facilitates weekly production planning meetings that review and firm up the site manufacturing plan. Work with operations teams to establish and follow scheduling principles to ensure optimal output to meet plant OEE goals.

Communicate daily with various teams such as Processing, Warehouse, QC, Materials Planning, and Bottling to minimize change and increase efficiencies. Communicates all changes affecting the production plan.

Balance production plans to meet needs of changing market demands, new product launches, brand re-designs while balancing operational constraints in processing, bottling and maintenance.

Coordinates and Interfaces with glass and PET partners to enable an uninterrupted flow of materials to support 220 materials across 122 SKUS, enabling a continuous flow of finished goods.

Glass is a critical component to our operation. as well as detailed monthly plans aligning supplier production to support bottling production plans. Create and share monthly glass and PET forecast plans with suppliers and hold monthly review of demand. Provide granular detail line up for glass production runs with our supplier.

Keep daily pulse on glass supply by evaluating on regular basis glass inventory levels, holds, rejections and production yields to ensure sufficient supply is available to meet bottling plans. Identify glass repacks needed to support production when suppliers are not able to support demand.

Lead process improvement and initiate change. Supervises the tasks of daily glass and PET releases into BFB Heritage and PPP bottling plants assisting with maintaining accurate inventory levels on site and in external warehouses. Serves as back up to daily glass supply.

Coordinate and communicate with Material Planners to provide detail around schedules to ensure proper flow of materials to support bottling schedules. Track, analyze, and achieve operation key performance indicators.

Experience in data gathering/analysis, identifying trends/gaps, building action plans, driving execution, and sustaining via routine management. Technical and problem-solving skills. Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, work in ambiguous environments, and make data driven decisions. Proven analytical, influential, and negotiation skills.

We Are Looking For People

Have a Bachelors Degree and 6 years operational related experience in alcoholic beverage, chemical, food, or related environment/industry. Logistics, planning and finished goods inventory management. Previous managerial experience supervising operations teams in a complex manufacturing environment. Proven track record for exceeding budget expectations and KPI targets. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to prepare and present finished reports and project updates. Communication should include the ability to create Process Flow charts, Work Flow instructions, Graphs, and Data Analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly adapt to new systems. Demonstrated ability to work with employees at all levels of an organization and in both union and non-union environments. Demonstrated ability to embrace and lead Continuous Improvement teams. Understands Quality programs, importance of consistency, specifications, and the impact to the consumer.

What You Can Add To The Team

Education: Master’s degree (M.A., MBA or Equivalent)

Experience: 10+ year’s management experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse Management Shipping environments and Project Management.

Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles & HACCP programs preferred.

Proficient at using SAP, MPS, APO

Detailed knowledge of hazardous material transportation requirements for domestic: DOT/IMDG/TTB/NATA.
