Brown-Forman Distillery Operator in Louisville, Kentucky
Acquired in 1940, the Brown-Forman Distillery is responsible for distilling several of our fine brands, including Early Times and Old Forester.
The duties of the Distillery Operator include, but are not limited to the following: general work related to Distillery functions. Perform the duties of the Distillery Operator and other tasks as assigned. Monitor and control fermentation, yeast, chiller, distillation, and by-products. Monitor mashing system to verify that proper temperatures, ingredients, times, and proper sequences are maintained. Ensure the appropriate timing of operations. Operate all equipment used in milling, mashing, yeasting, fermentation, distillation, and by-products. Perform analytical tests to ensure product quality. Monitor and control distillery operations through a computerized control system. Provide daily sanitation to work area.
Be able to judge distance or depth of objects
Be able to read operations manuals, complete log sheets and calculate percentages
Be able to relate computer with actual events in system
Be willing to learn and capable of conforming to hygiene and sanitation requirements as described in the Brown-Forman Housekeeping and Sanitation Manual
Be able to remember a large quantity of information, recognize problems, and reason deductively and inductively
Be able to make visual discrimination at close range or under very low light conditions
High school diploma or GED
Must be at least 21 years old
Must be willing to work shift based overtime as well as holidays and weekends
Brown-Forman Distillery is a 24 hour 7 day week operation with an 8 hour schedule Monday – Friday and overtime assigned by seniority and area qualification. Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.
Must have demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Must have ability to concentrate without becoming distracted and multitask, shift back and forth between different sources of information.
Must pass drug screen, physical abilities test, and background check
Must join a Union within 60 working days and complete a 60 work day probationary period
Previous experience and/or demonstrated technical and mechanical ability in complex manufacturing environment
Previous time spent on safety, quality or environmental teams at a manufacturing facility
Be able to lift, carry, or move heavy objects (20 - 50lbs)
Frequent stooping, bending, crawling; occasional climbing ladders is also required
- Hourly starting wage at $20.30. A $0.40 per hour shift differential for the afternoon shift and $0.50 per hour shift differential for night shift.
