Brown-Forman General Manager - Group Site Director in Louisville, Kentucky

The General Manager/Group Site Director is responsible for the oversight, leadership, direction and development of the production operations for Woodford Reserve, Old Forester Distillery, B-F Distillery Operations, Canadian Mist and Sonoma Cutrer. Leads and directs the production operations that includes distilling, bottling, warehousing, shipping, and agricultural components for the five sites consisting of approximately 420 employees (including 180 union employees), production of approximately 16 million O.P.G.’s annually, bottling of 8 million 9L cases, over 1M barrels of inventory, agricultural activities with over 1100 acres, and with overall spend of approximately $200M.

Provide strategic direction and oversight towards the development of site specific goals and objectives aligned with Global Production’s Key Performance Indicators of Safety, Morale, Quality, Production, Delivery and Cost (SMQPDC). Guide site leadership in the oversight of the manufacturing/production process to ensure products and direct activities are manufactured safely, within quality standards and cost objectives and are delivered on time. Ensure the organizations are focused toward continued operational success, and significant growth objectives and business challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

Leads the process for setting strategic direction for each site, studying technological, agricultural and financial opportunities; presenting assumptions; recommending objectives.

Leads site leadership to develop short and long-term goals to accomplish plant objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections. Ensure sites are focused on Continuous Improvement (CI)/TPM processes geared toward increasing operational efficiencies and cost control measures.

Leads each site to ensure efficient utilization of production operations to produce top quality products within the prescribed practices for Safety and Environmental, Morale, Quality, Productivity, Delivery, and Cost. Ensures controls are in place for all operational processes, to include compliance with company and government policies and regulations.

Leads the long-term capital planning to support brand growth which informs the annual capital investment planning process.

Partner with Finance Director to lead, enable and support teams in driving the P&L of the sites, ensuring goals and objectives align with broader financial goals.

Partner effectively with company stakeholders (marketing, sales) on items relating to new products, inventory, warehousing, shipments, etc.

Builds company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices.

Member of the Global Production Leadership Team. Helps set the direction for the Global Production Organization. Provides updates on required items including overall business performance, KPIs, P&L, capital projects and expansion efforts, yield and productivity metrics, etc. Supports the Talent Management and Succession Planning processes for individual sites and the broader organization

Required Experience & Education:

Education: College/University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Engineering, Business, or Related Field

Experience: Multi site experience. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or a related field with 15+ years’ experience in manufacturing leadership roles, preferably in a consumer good manufacturing and union environment, leading people and teams. Equivalent education and experience combinations will be considered.

Demonstrated inclusive leadership, leading others and excellent communication skills. Ability to build and sustain excellent business relationships internally and externally.

Knowledge and experience of TPM practices, understanding how to lead, direct and implement the work. Ability to diagnose manufacturing issues and problem-solving to increase operational efficiencies and cost control.

Strong business, financial, and analytical acumen. Strong understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes, continuous improvement methodologies, and quality, safety, and environmental practices.

Preferred Experience & Education:

Education: Masters Degree (M.A., MBA or Equivalent); Engineering or Business Administration

Experience: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration with 10 years leadership experience in the spirits industry.
