Brown-Forman Global Health, Safety and Security Specialist - Homeplaces in Louisville, Kentucky

Reports to: Homeplace VP Director with dotted line reporting to Corporate Health and Safety Manager

Location: The selected candidate can work from B-F Headquarters in Louisville, KY or work remotely from a home office (available in KY, TN, IN, OH, VA)

Essential Functions:

Health, Safety and Security

  • Provide proactive leadership of all Health, Safety, Food Safety/Handling and Security programs at all home places that includes auditing, monitoring, reporting, recordkeeping and training.

  • Manages 100% compliance of plant and Homeplace operations with regulatory requirements relating. to Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Health and Safety utilizing expertise of Corporate and site EHS resources as needed.

  • Develop and implement current and new initiatives, programs and process improvements to reduce injuries and illnesses and continuous improvement programs for overall Health and Safety performance for employees and customers.

  • Liaise with the B-F security representative at each site to implement retail security measures to mitigate risk of theft and injuries to guests and employees.

  • Manage health, safety and security of BF lodging by implementing governmental and hotel industry standards.

  • Monitor safety and security related costs (capital and expense), capital requests, provides input into safety and security related budgetary items, tracks performance to plan and prepares reports and presentations on costs associated with safety program and metrics.

  • Create accountability programs with all functions for all locations’ leadership teams and associates to aggressively minimize accidents and injuries of Homeplace employees, consumers and interactions to production employees in all Homeplace environments.

  • Develop and implement safety committees to drive employee involvement in safety performance.

  • Develop and maintain excellent local and state agency relationships.

  • Support and conduct Health and Safety compliance assurance and B-F Metrics audits and provide leadership to sites for sustainable corrective actions for resolution.

  • Conduct and/or validate accident investigations to determine root cause and sustainable solutions utilizing 5whys/7ways with supervisors.

  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and drive for short- and long-term corrective actions to reduce musculoskeletal injuries and resultant worker compensation costs.

  • Create and deliver highly impactful/interactive injury reduction and regulatory required training.

  • Establish proactive Health and Safety culture and reduce risk taking behaviors to prevent accidents in the workplace.

  • Manage data on B-F Corporate Google and SalesForce sites and prepare reports as necessary.

  • Drive programs in Homeplace tours that minimize injury exposure to visitors while providing a program that fits with brand marketing and messaging.

  • Support B-F wellness activities to promote workplace and home employee health.

  • Perform associated and other duties as required.

Worker Compensation

  • Working with Corporate resources, handle local worker compensation claims, issues and disability costs through B-F claims management practices and return to work programs.

  • Work with Corporate Safety Manager for all local claim’s settlement and case management decisions.

Must Requirements:

  • BS or BA Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of HS&S experience - leading Health or Safety compliance programs in a retail, entertainment or food industry manufacturing environments with both employee and customer risk reduction experience. General understanding of retail security measures.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a cross-functional team and cross functional teams

  • Excellent oral, written and training communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and drive multiple programs with accuracy and attention to details at all levels of management.

  • Tactical compliance deployment for OSHA compliance, food safety/handling, safety and corporate security requirements in retail, tour and kitchen environments

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Health, Safety, Security, Fire Standards and/or governmental regulations.

  • Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Willingness to travel Globally between sites as needed up to 40%

  • Collaborative mindset

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, confidentiality and maturity in responding to handling all job responsibilities with employee and customer risks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in an EHS discipline

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Audit experience or qualifications

  • Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Salary Grade: 26

*For this position, we are not able to offer a corporate relocation package. However, in some cases, there may be relocation assistance available. If selected candidate resides in a state near KY, working remotely from a home office is available.
