Brown-Forman Guest Services & Retail Team - Old Forester Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky
The Old Forester Distillery is an interactive, consumer experience designed to showcase the craftsmanship and authenticity of Old Forester, America’s first bottled bourbon. We will give our consumers a look into how Old Forester comes to life and each team member will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and authenticity of this experience as they interact with our consumers throughout their visit to our Homeplace.
Would you enjoy working in an urban setting in downtown Louisville at the newest bourbon distillery experience? Located at 119 West Main Street, along Louisville’s historic “Whiskey Row,” the distillery and bourbon experience will be a world-class distilling operation and visitor’s destination showcasing the supreme craftsmanship of Old Forester.
We currently have full time and part time openings available for Tour Captains, Tour Guides and Tour Operations Assistants who would be responsible for leading guests from around the world through the following: fermenting, distilling, cooperage, bottling, tasting rooms and bar. In addition, we will be hiring for roles within our Retail store, which include Retail Assistants, Retail Coordinators and Retail Associates.
Hours are typically during the day, however you must be flexible in your availability to work three out of four weekends a month, nights and holidays.
Qualified candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have a friendly, outgoing personality, professional image & demeanor and pass all screenings.
We are sourcing talent for the following positions below:
Tour Guide Captain- OFD (2 openings)
Conducts public and private tours of our distillery facility.
Manages the day to day tour operation and programs offered to our guests.
Facilitates training for Tour Guides and Tour Operations Assistants.
Tour Guide - OFD (4 openings)
Conducts public and private tours of our distillery facility.
Concludes tour with a special tasting for guests 21 and over.
Tour Operations Assistant - OFD (3 openings)
Greets visitors and answers questions regarding distillery and surrounding area.
Responsible for clean-up of tasting room and preparation of room for next tour.
Assists Tour Guide as needed.
Guest Services Coordinator- OFD (1 opening)
Serves as one of the first points of interaction with our guests.
Responds to phone calls and online questions regarding tours, ticketing and related information.
Receives group booking requests and communicates arrangements to guests and staff.
Retail Assistant -OFD (2 openings)
Provides support to Retail Manager and assists in supervision of Retail Coordinators and Associates.
Negotiates pricing of merchandise, monitors inventory levels and orders supplies when needed.
Monitors, approves and oversees the processing of invoices and payments.
Retail Coordinator (1 opening)
Provides support in all aspects of the daily operations.
Manages incoming orders, daily customer communications and provides daily direction and guidance to Retail Associates.
Perform opening & closing duties, completes transactions, prepares bank deposits and balances cash drawers.
Works with retail management to develop staffing schedules and trains employees on daily operations of retail store.
Retail Associate (2 openings)
Promotes sale of bourbon and giftware in distillery retail store.
Maintains appearance of store and restocks merchandise.
Assists in retail store as needed.
Education - High School Diploma
Minimum one year of experience in hospitality, retail or spirits/wine industry.
Hours are typically during the day, however you must be flexible in your availability to work three out of four weekends a month and some nights.
Strong oral presentation skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Physically capable to stand for long periods of time.
Some lifting may be required, up to 40 lbs.
Tour Guide Captain and Tour Guide
Be able to memorize basic tour script & lead groups up to 30, while standing for long periods of time.
Tour Guide Captain
Have an in-depth knowledge of our industry and experience supervising others.
Ability to interact with visitors as needed to showcase the craftsmanship and authenticity of Old Forester in a positive, engaging style.
Contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
Experience working within a high performing work team i.e. working in an environment where there is a shared understanding and accountability of the vision, goals and metrics which in turn promotes teamwork and collaboration to accomplish tasks/results.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and engage with consumers.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field and minimum three years in hospitality, retail or spirits/wine industry; or appropriate combination of education and experience.
