Brown-Forman IT Intern/Co-op in Louisville, Kentucky

Job Description:


Support the Global T Services Department assisting with needed departmental activities to include: project support, presentations, research, web development/maintenance and general departmental activities. This position will support the department in the following areas including: IT Sourcing and Contract Management, Compliance, Process Mapping, Quality Assurance and Testing, Change Management, Communications, and Training. Candidate will get broad exposure to information technology global processes, projects and corporate culture with global organization.

This position is seeking an intern for a 12-month assignment, potentially longer.

Basic Function:

Intern serves as primary support for all functions within the IT Global Services Department. Primary responsibilities will be to support internal IT processes including: technology procurement, contracts, testing and quality initiatives, and information technology global process support. Projects and research may include IT best practices, new technology, emerging trends, and solutions to various information systems matters. In addition, responsibilities include company research and building spreadsheets, presentations, work flows and other support for on-going departmental work. This position will also work closely with the IT Compliance area collecting evidence of effective control performance during SOX testing within IT.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support key activities within the department to enhance information technology processes. Key activities may include: research, project work, presentation development, process diagrams, etc.

  • Learn technical tools and be able to develop and/or enhance applications and Google websites as needed.

  • Provide assistance as needed. This may include some administrative work for day to day activities.

  • Develop PowerPoint or Google slides presentations as needed for research and or reporting

  • Edit and manage content for the internal website to ensure display of relevant and timely information that reflects organization’s identity.

  • Edit and manage website content for the IT Sourcing, IT OnBoarding and IT website with updates and new development.

  • Work with departmental technology to access information, help with analysis, testing and reporting.

  • Support Brown-Forman’s commitment to the Louisville community by acting as a key liaison with various non-profit organizations in the community, as directed by management.

  • Assist and/or manage others with special projects as needed.


Intern will act as an extension of the IT Global Services Department and Brown-Forman Corporation. The intern will be expected to act professionally in all instances and should use the following guidelines as a baseline for appropriate behavior.

  • Arrive on-time at the specified work location

  • Dress professionally. If in doubt, refer to the Brown-Forman Dress Guidelines, as detailed in the Brown-Forman Employee Handbook.

  • Communicate with others with respect. This includes all verbal and oral communications with management, co-workers, and all contacts both within and outside of Brown-Forman.

  • Act primarily in an observational role in all internal and external meetings unless specifically noted by management.


  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Security, or related field. Prefer individual pursuing internship or interested in one year assignment (with consideration to a school schedule).

  • Proficient knowledge in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Google Office tools (docs, drive, sheets, slides)

  • Ability to work in self-managed environment with high degree of initiative and integrity

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to independently initiate, prioritize, and plan work to meet deadlines on multiple projects

  • Demonstrated self-starter with ability to make independent judgment

  • Excellent organizational skills and detail orientation.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationship with Information System’s staff and managers and with other employees and managers across Brown-Forman

  • Willingness to work extended or off-hours to handle communication needs

  • Time management skills/Attention to deadlines

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with a technology organization

  • Strong technical aptitude

  • Google tool experience (Sites, Mail, Docs, Drive, etc)

  • Salesforce development experience

  • Research abilities

  • Adaptability

  • Desire to learn and develop professionally
