Brown-Forman Maintenance Supervisor in Louisville, Kentucky

Meaningful Work From Day One:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the direct leadership of 19 technicians across 4 departments at 2 separate production facilities. The position manages annual MRO purchases of approximately $3.3MM and a parts inventory of approximately 8M items. Fully utilizes CMMS to optimize productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Provides direction and support to include daily staffing, PM execution, corrective work planning, line changeovers, and breakdown elimination plans. Procures, receives, and stores parts and services necessary to support the required work. Serves as a critical link between work being requested and results of work completed. Communicates status and results of work to Maintenance and Operations Managers. Maintains up-to-date CMMS and holds technicians accountable to completion and compliance standards.

What You Will Do In This Position:

● Develop, revise, fill gaps, and publish mechanic line schedule to support production

● Lead shift overlap meetings twice daily to ensure timely communication of safety callouts, plantwide information, changes to staffing or production schedule, daily work plans, and department KPIs

● Champion a “Zero Loss” mentality for safety in the maintenance department

● Understand job risk assessments and proactively seek out ways to improve safety for technicians

● Ensure all contractors have completed appropriate safety training

● Incorporate safety instructions in job procedures

● Track technician safety training and recertification requirements

● Manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System - eMaint

● Train technicians on proper CMMS utilization

● Add new assets for new equipment installations and archive old assets

● Create and maintain a library of electronic equipment manuals

● Develop reports for work orders, PMs, and inventory as required to track department KPIs

● Effectively plan & schedule work to technicians to optimally utilize time

● Review open work requests daily, get clarification as needed, and convert to work orders

● Review open work orders daily to order required parts, receive parts, schedule work, and close out completed work

● Create changeover work orders each week based on the following week’s production schedule

● Schedule work to balance production priorities, line availability, and labor in close communication with both operations and maintenance managers

● Coordinate maintenance services as called out by PMs and maintain active service agreements with contractors as needed

● Anticipate and communicate abnormal costs and their impact to the budget

● Manage the Preventive Maintenance Program

● Generate PM work orders in advance, procure required parts as needed, and ensure work is completed by target due dates

● Revise and update existing PM schedules as needed, including as a result of breakdown analysis investigations

● Collaborate with OEM, engineering, and maintenance on development of new PM procedures and frequencies and enter in eMaint

● Track overdue PM work orders weekly, understand root cause of delays, and develop plans to get back on track

● Manage inventory

● Submit requisitions for parts and services within Coupa

● Physically receive parts and stock in appropriate designated locations

● Receive parts and services within Coupa and ensure quality and accuracy

● Manage vertical storage unit setup

● Set up new parts in inventory, both in the vertical storage unit when applicable and in eMaint

● Manage inventory min/max levels

● Perform regular cycle counts of inventory

● Stage and pre-kit parts for scheduled work

● Proactively seek out ways to reduce required inventory through parts standardization

● Strive for “zero loss” on production equipment with respect to downtime and waste

● Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams daily to assess the previous day’s downtime and upcoming needs to assist in prioritizing maintenance activities

● Support breakdown analysis investigations

● Meet with maintenance and operations teams weekly to report KPIs, prioritize work order backlog, and discuss upcoming plans and/or issues relevant to production

● Participate in PM Pillar meetings and help drive change within the department

● Effectively complete required administrative tasks in a timely manner

● Reconcile weekly timesheets, revise as needed, approve, and submit to payroll at the beginning of each week

● Approve or reject technician time off requests (e.g., vacations, floating holidays, etc.) based on staffing needs and track for department visibility

● Facilitate the onboarding of new technicians by ordering uniforms, setting them up to MSC vending machine access, supplying tools, etc.

What Exactly Are We Looking For:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Industrial) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3 - 5 years minimum direct leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory/management experience within a maintenance organization. Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing sustainable processes through motivating and facilitating cross-functional teams. Direct responsibility for leading maintenance personnel and processes. Continuous improvement experience. Familiar with maintenance processes, reliability and KPI’s.
