Brown-Forman Manager - Production Planning in Louisville, Kentucky

Meaningful Work From Day One

This role leads and directs production planning and scheduling for Brown-Forman Distillery Operations. Creates viable long range production plans that effectively utilize site resources and meet customer demands. Responsible for Master Production Planning and scheduling of up to 4 million cases of finished goods annually in a highly complex production environment while supporting 4 Brands to attain brand’s strategy, product launch, and re-design and product availability. Contributions are measured primarily through customer service key performance indicators, minimizing out of stocks, and supporting company and site inventory objectives. This role also serves as lead contact and liaison with glass suppliers and PET suppliers. Create strategic annual glass demand plans.

What You Can Expect

  • Leads and directs production plans to support up to 4 million cases in the Brown-Forman Bottling production site across 2 bottling lines.

  • Create and Execute the Master Production Schedule and cascade weekly and monthly production schedule to the plant operations teams.

  • Create short term and long-term planning for about 90 SKUs across 6 different bottle sizes, utilizing APO and SAP.

  • Monitor finished good SKU status. Work with Product Engineer to maintain accurate SKU status for plant.

  • Update and Maintain material master settings for all plant Finished Goods.

  • Interfaces with Supply Chain, Packaging, Brand Management and Finance partners to strategically develop long term capacity models for production.

  • Participate in monthly Integrated Business Planning meetings (IBP) to illustrate plant Rough cut Capacity Planning tool (RCCP) and constraints for outer months.

  • Evaluates operational constraints to establish and maintain detailed weekly bottling schedules which include but not limited to product matrix, raw material availability, bulk whiskey availability, maintenance change overs, manpower, and plant efficiencies.

  • Maintains the Plant Production scheduling Principles by collaborating with the Plant leadership team on quarterly reviews.

  • Maintains the Plant Planning Rates by collaborating with the Plant leadership team on quarterly reviews

  • Administers the manufacturing order cycle including creating, firming up, and maintaining process orders in SAP. Tracks orders to completion using SAP

  • Leads the development and expansion of the Sales & Operation Planning process at BFB.

  • Manages plant inventory to achieve site and corporate objectives. Reviews customer demand by market and negotiates delivery dates when necessary. Plan inventory builds as needed to support capital projects, routine maintenance projects, planned plant shutdowns and brand promotions.

  • Manages capacity and inventory control at multiple warehouse locations to ensure accurate flow of demand and supply from respective primary warehouses.

  • Works closely with the BFDO Leadership team to develop annual labor budgets, line utilization, multi-site inventory target levels, and overall equipment efficiency targets.

  • Liaise and set material planning expectations with the Site Senior planning and procurement lead to coordinate the supply and inventory control for all production packaging materials.

  • Facilitates weekly and monthly production planning meetings to review and firm up the site manufacturing plan. Work with operations teams to establish and follow scheduling principles to ensure optimal output to meet plant OEE goals.

  • Communicate daily with various teams such as Processing, Warehouse, QC, Materials Planning, and Bottling to minimize change and increase efficiencies. Communicates all changes affecting the production plan.

  • Maintain agility to production plans to meet needs of changing market demands, new product launches, brand re-designs while balancing operational constraints in processing, bottling and maintenance.

  • Plan and coordinate the supply of Glass and PET with vendors and suppliers to ensure material availability. Work closely with Master Scheduler to ensure proper allocation of glass production capacity to meet plant demand.

  • Keep daily pulse on glass supply by evaluating inventory levels, holds, rejections and production yields to ensure sufficient supply is available to meet bottling plans. Identify and execute glass repacks needed to support production when suppliers are not able to support demand.

  • Create and update the Monthly Capacity planning File to share projections with finance partners as well as other internal stakeholders.

  • Hold periodic meetings with Material Planners to provide detail around schedules to ensure proper flow of materials to support bottling schedules. Track, analyze, and achieve operational key performance indicators.

  • Experience in data gathering/analysis, identifying trends/gaps, building action plans, driving execution, and sustaining via routine management. Technical and problem-solving skills. Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, work in ambiguous environments, and make data driven decisions. Proven analytical, influential, and negotiation skills. Ability to collaborate with several internal and external customers.

What You Bring to the Table

Bachelors degree and 6 years operational related experience in manufacturing environment. Logistics, planning and finished goods inventory management experience. Previous experience overseeing manufacturing and operational processes. Proven track record for exceeding budget expectations and KPI targets. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to prepare and present finished reports and project updates. Communication should include the ability to create Process Flow charts, Workflow instructions, Graphs and Data Analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and ability to quickly adapt to new systems. Demonstrated ability to work with employees at all levels of an organization and in both union and non-union environments. Demonstrated ability to embrace and lead Continuous Improvement teams. Understands Quality programs, importance of consistency, specifications, and the impact to the consumer.

What Makes You Unique

Education: Master’s Degree (M.A., MBA or Equivalent);

Experience: 10+ year’s management experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse Management Shipping environments and Project Management.

Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles & HACCP programs preferred.

Proficient at using SAP, MPS, APO
