Brown-Forman Production Manager - Brown-Forman Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky
Meaningful Work From Day One Responsible for leading production at the Brown-Forman Distillery located in Louisville, Kentucky. Manage and coordinate all distilling activities for Brown-Forman Distillery. Plans, directs, and controls all distillery, by-products operations and personnel to meet targeted demand, environmental requirements, and business objectives through the leadership of 2 salaried direct reports who are responsible for the scheduling and coordination of 15 distillery employees. Responsible for managing the production capabilities of the Brown Forman Distillery to ensure production of approximately 10 million O.P.G.’s annually with an intercompany sales value of approximately $20 million. Responsible for assisting in maintaining assets totaling over $15 million, $5 million of raw materials, and $3 million labor and overhead budget.
What You Can Expect
To ensure the efficient utilization of the distillery and by-products operations and support the workforce in producing top quality whisky and by-products within the prescribed practices for quality, cost, and safety. Monitor all equipment, mechanical and electrical systems in area of responsibility to include distillery, and dry house. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage union workforce including policy adherence and performance management in accordance with collective bargaining agreement. Support, guide, and mentor union workforce in regard to training, scheduling, coverage for production, vacation scheduling, overtime, projects, and absenteeism. Ensure adherence to established methods and procedures to assure consistent flavor stability and high quality at optimum cost per proof gallon. Strong understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes, continuous improvement methodologies, and quality, safety, and environmental practices. Proven ability to drive continuous improvement projects/initiatives and support/lead both BFDO and Corporate level pillars. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose manufacturing issues and problem solve solutions to increase operational efficiencies, increase yield and control cost. Creating and leading a safe working environment - Plans, directs and controls operating activities of distillery and dry house (6600 bu/day plant) to provide an accident-free workplace, and to ensure the safety of distillery employees. Investigates and documents accidents, reviews accident reports and takes corrective action as required. Supports the Plant Manager in preparation and administering of the annual operations budget for labor and overhead. Supports the Maintenance team by utilizing work order processes, Preventive Maintenance program, and equipment downtime tracking to improve effectiveness and efficiency of Distillery assets. Develop documentation and procedures to manage the department's compliance with State and Federal OSHA regulations, Environmental and plant safety programs. Develop short/long-term visions for distillery and by-products departments. Maintain inventories of raw materials and supplies used in the distillery.
We Are Looking For People Who
Have a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry or related science discipline and a minimum of 5 years experience working in a manufacturing environment preferably a processing environment i.e. distilling, chemical etc. with demonstrated leadership experience OR in lieu of degree 5+ years leadership experience working in a distilling/related i.e. chemical processing.
What You Can Add To The Team
Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration with 5 years leadership experience in the spirits industry. Experience in distillery production operations and processing. Experience in by-products operating equipment. Experience with Food Safety, SQF, and or HACCP. Experience with Continuous Improvement, TPM, and Pillar Strategy. Knowledge of motors, pumps, and associated process related equipment, familiarity with operation/maintenance of boilers. Knowledge of manufacturing sanitation requirements and quality control. Demonstrated inclusive leadership, leading others and excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate and evaluate work performance expectations. Ability to build and sustain excellent business relationships internally and externally. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose manufacturing issues and problem solve solutions to increase operational efficiencies, increase yield and control cost. Computer literacy - Windows, Excel, Smartsheets, and Maintenance systems (i.e.: PM, parts, work orders, downtime, etc.). Experience with auto/manual operation of equipment. Experience in Electrical Instrumentation and Controls that operate process equipment automatically with the ability to manually manipulate if required.
