Brown-Forman Retail Coordinator- Sales and Hospitality/OFD in Louisville, Kentucky

The Old Forester Distillery is an interactive, consumer experience designed to showcase the craftsmanship and authenticity of Old Forester, America’s first bottled bourbon. We will give our consumers a look into how Old Forester comes to life and each team member will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and authenticity of this experience as they interact with our consumers throughout their visit to our Homeplace.

Role Description: The Retail Coordinator - Sales and Hospitality position is a leadership role in the OFD Retail Team. The position requires clear and strong communication skills, quick thinking and confident decision making while holding oneself and others accountable. This is a hands-on sales position that works along with the team as an extension of the OFD tour experience while promoting the Old Forester brand, representing the distillery in the highest manner and delivering a top-notch customer experience.

The Retail Coordinator should always lead the team by example, providing direction and training for each team member. The role of Retail Coordinator requires working closely with the Retail Manager on a daily basis, discussing the retail store’s financial goals and progress, team objectives, ideas, and concerns.

In addition, this role will undertake drafting an SOP for the OFD retail sales training standards to meet expectations set by the Retail Manager.

Day-to-Day Leadership

  • Begin each day knowing each team member's schedule, visitor counts and financial goals set for the day, as well as being aware of events, VIP’s or special groups that may be visiting.

  • Coordinate with other Retail Leadership to organize daily communications with the team

  • Continually communicate throughout the day with the Guest Services Tour Captains for updates and changes that may occur.

  • Keep the team motivated and moving throughout the retail space while working with them to focus on our visitors, merchandise restocking and display standards.

  • Provide daily positive and constructive leadership and feedback to the team

Visitor Experience and Sales

  • Assist guests on the sales floor to provide exceptional customer service

  • Discuss and educate visitors on the Old Forester brand, history, and merchandise

  • Strive to meet bottle and general merchandise sales goals

  • Discuss our retail/corporate gifting program with visitors

  • Readily explain our engraving and shipping programs with guests

  • Resolve customer issues and questions

Day-to-Day Operational Procedures

  • Manage and perform the opening and closing procedures of the gift shop

  • Balance cash drawers, count and handle cash responsibly and accurately. Make weekly deposits, make a change when needed, balance cash drawers, count and handle cash responsibly and accurately.

  • Fully understand and operate the retail POS System (Lightspeed), Cayan credit card processing system and the SVS gift card machine and have the ability to train others

  • Assist in restocking retail shelves & rotate merchandise

  • Maintain the presentation of the store, keeping it fully stocked and clean

  • Ensure all pricing, signage, and barcodes on the floor are accurate

  • Enter and post daily sales

  • Preform bottle engravings when needed

  • Ensure all state laws regarding alcohol sales are being followed at all times by the team

Retail Team Training and SOP

  • Work closely with the Retail Manager to provide a step by step SOP for the front of the house sales team within a set period of time and provide updates as needed. This will include policies and procedures on selling, interacting with customers, and our technology, (ie: Lightspeed, Cayan, SVS Gift Card System, Xola as well as our phone system & call procedures.) etc.

Requirements

  • 2 years of previous experience in team management

  • High school diploma

  • Highly proficient in communicating skills

  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn to operate computerized equipment and systems

  • Lifting and carrying from the ground to waist height up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to work any shift and/or overtime as required.

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
