Brown-Forman Scientist - Sensory and Product Insights in Louisville, Kentucky

Meaningful Work From Day One:

The Scientist- Product Insights position supports Brown-Forman Global R&D projects by performing sensory product testing under minimal supervision. The Scientist- Product Insights will build on experience and knowledge of established sensory testing methodology to take requests, determine testing protocol, implement testing and analyze results. Builds relationships and reaches agreement with business partners across the company. Solves new problems using sensory expertise. Able to interpret data and make recommendations with minimal supervision.

What You Can Expect:

  • Provides quality control sensory testing support and leadership to global production sites. Builds relationships with production partners both internally and externally. Able to understand the business background and adapt the support approach accordingly. Monitors performance of sensory panels across global production sites to maintain quality of products across the portfolio. Trains sensory panels and new sensory panelists. Works with QA and production sites to remedy panel performance when needed.

  • Takes sensory testing requests from internal and external customers. Determines and performs both routine and non-routine testing and work assignments. Utilizes sensory experience and knowledge to customize approaches to solve new problems.

  • Supports documentation and implementation of sensory quality certification programs such as Internal Standards of Organization (ISO) and/or Safe Quality Food (SQF).

  • Responsible for preparation of samples for sensory testing, maintenance of sensory samples, sensory panel set up, and monitoring of sensory panelist performance.

  • Travel up to 10%

What You Bring To The Table:

  • B.S degree in Food Science, Sensory Science, Psychology or related field

  • 2+ years Sensory experience in a CPG company

  • Strong computational and statistical skills

  • Familiarity with discriminative, quality control and qualitative sensory methodologies

  • Sensory panel leadership

  • Must be physically able to stand for extended periods and handle fragile laboratory instruments

What Makes You Unique:

  • 3+ years sensory experience

  • Experience with distilled spirits products and properties

  • Experience with Compusense software

  • Experience with quality control certification

  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently.
