Brown-Forman Senior Designer in Louisville, Kentucky

Basic Function:

Acts as in-house graphic and 3-D designer with projects ranging in scope from experiential and homeplace design related projects and displays, internal communications, brand identity toolkits, and general production work including, digital, print, OOH, etc. Must understand marketing concepts and production design of print and electronic materials as well as general principles of 3-D experiential design. Responsible for client-direct workflow as well as other projects or portions of projects directed by other members of the Design team. Creates original design and artwork as well as revising existing artwork created by internal and external designers. Adept at problem solving and aligning key brand strategy objectives with the design work.

Meaningful Work From Day One:

Responsible for the design and production of graphic design materials for print, electronic and 3-Dimensional conceptual usage from project inception to completion. Develops engaging and innovative design solutions based on conceptual brand strategies for our portfolio of brands. Creates effective design which promotes brand integrity and helps ensure premium product positioning in the marketplace. Assists Director, Homeplace & Experiential Design and Art Directors in any needed project capacity. In addition to standard graphic design also responsible for the design and production of 3-D graphics to support Homeplace projects and general experiential activation design work. Works directly with internal and external clients and manages vendors. Applies problem-solving efforts and can quickly switch priorities to meet changing deadline conditions.

What You Can Expect:

  • Contributes to the design and development of new and refined brand identity projects, such as toolkits.

  • Designs internal communications, point-of-sale, out of home, ads, posters, 3-D branded spaces, displays, and other necessary B-F projects from inception to completion.

  • General production work including, digital media, print, OOH, etc.

  • Works in close collaboration with Brand clients, Design team, and external agencies/vendors to develop professional brand-oriented marketing materials ensuring brand equity remains intact.

  • Actively seeks design critique, direction, and approval from Creative Directors and Art Directors on all brand-related projects and works collaboratively with all Design team members. Mentors and provides guidance to Design Interns, Freelancers, and other Design team members.

  • Delivers materials in a timely manner meeting requested deadlines, with extremely quick demands a normal occurrence.

  • Responsible for preparing files for print, working directly with Art Directors and other Design team members to ensure completeness and correctness of files supplied to vendors for printing.

  • Maintains open communication lines with clients, maintaining status updates in project request system, and uploading art to digital asset management system.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of design trends and actively supports the BF Way of Brand Building.

  • Stays abreast of new design-related technologies, industry trends, and best practices.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Art/Graphic Design or similar plus 5-7 years of experience in design agency or corporate in-house design department concentrating in Graphic Design, Web Design, Experiential Design or a combination or equivalent education/experience.

  • Experience in Macintosh platform applications for print and electronic publishing including demonstrated skill in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

  • Experience providing art for use in PowerPoint and web-based solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to execute and follow through on assignments to meet routine and special/changing deadlines and schedules.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities – with emphasis on creative collaboration and client servicing. Experience working with people at all organizational levels.

  • Experience using organizational, time management, and project management skills – both in maintaining own workload, and assisting in design projects primarily handled by other members of the Design team.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems proactively.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to work flexible schedule as needed.

What Makes You Unique (Preferred Requirements):

  • Experience visualizing business strategy and branding aesthetics in print, 3-D applications and electronic design projects. 3-D modeling program experience preferred.

  • Experience aligning 3D spatial thinking with brand strategy.

  • Demonstrated experience working with web-based technologies.

  • Experience working in small collaborative teams.

  • Familiarity with technical issues involving Macintosh operating systems and software.

  • Knowledge of Brown-Forman corporate culture, brands, and procedures.
