Brown-Forman Senior Financial Analyst in Louisville, Kentucky

Meaningful Work From Day One Serves as a business partner with the Wood Procurement, Purchasing and Processing (WPPP) Organization including providing support for three Stave Mills (operating in Stevenson, AL; Clifton, TN; and Jackson, OH), outside wood procurement (Log Buyers and Stave & Heading Inspectors), mill administration and used barrel sales. This individual is responsible for managing, facilitating, and coordinating financial accounting, reporting, planning, and analytical activities with a focus on communicating quantitative and qualitative information in a clear, accurate, and timely manner.

What You Can Expect

Provide accounting and analytical support to the WPPP finance and operational teams as follows:

Accounting & Operational Analysis – 65%

  • Performs monthly closing procedures, including journal entries, analysis, reports, and reconciliations.

  • Conducts reviews of financial activity to ensure accuracy and integrity of the accountingrecord in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, GAAP, company policies, and other applicable controls.

  • Actively participates in continuous improvement efforts. Partners with various cross-functional team members and provides data to measure progress against goals.Acts as primary day-to-day contact with mills, Log Buyers, and Stave & Heading inspectors providing support as needed, including troubleshooting of SAP wood-related transactions

  • Coordinate entry of used barrel sales orders into SAP.

  • Performs and oversees cost standard setup and maintenance.

  • Ad Hoc Project Analysis: Provides support to finance management team in developing meaningful financial analysis designed to further the operating unit’s understanding of significant business matters. Analytical assignments could include cost saving initiatives, inventory usage analysis, production planning review, make or buy decisions, etc.

Budgeting and Forecasting – 25%

  • Support the WPPP Management team during the budgeting and forecasting periods promoting efficient allocation of resources during the planning processes.

  • Provide ongoing tracking of projected used barrel sales and barrels available for sale on a monthly basis

  • Responsible for managing capital projects including generating monthly capital spending reports, complete and submit project close-out requests to corporate accounting, and circulate Capital Approval Request forms for approval.

Special Projects as required – 10%

We Are Looking For People

Who have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and 4-6 years accounting experience in manufacturing environment or related environment. Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of GAAP and the ability to prepare financial statements and analysis. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Applications.

What You Can Add To The Team

Education: Master’s Degree (M.A., MBA or Equivalent); Business, Accountancy or Finance

Certifications: CPA

Experience: Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP environment including the following modules: material ledger, inventory management, and product costing

Accounting experience in beverage alcohol or consumer goods manufacturing environment

Job Competencies:

Ability to work independently and execute responsibilities in a high volume, deadline-oriented environment; willingness and ability to organize, implement, and perform

quality work with accuracy and attention to detail. Strong financial and analytical abilities with the ability to collect analyze and present results in a concise format. Proactive in recommending positive changes in procedures and leads the agreed upon change process. Proven written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly discuss business issues and translate into financial implications and action plants.
