Brown-Forman Senior Global Payroll Tax Analyst in Louisville, Kentucky

The Sr. Global Payroll Tax Analyst position is an important part of the GBS Payroll Team, and will be responsible for the successful processing and administration of US and some International Payroll Tax processing. This position will work collaboratively with various teams within HR such as HRIS, Benefits, Compensation, TR and other regional teams to deliver accurate and complete payroll tax processing to our US workforce. This role is also responsible for applying experience and knowledge to effectively improve the overall international and domestic payroll tax process.

Meaningful Work From Day One:

Serving as the leader for all activities related payroll taxes and accounting in a multi-state, multi-FEIN, and global environment, this role is responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness for all payroll taxes, periodic account reconciliations, preparation of journal entries, and maintenance of payroll tax related General Ledger accounts. This role regularly interacts with global business partners including HR Total Rewards and Compensation, Corporate Tax, Risk Management, Finance, Procure to Pay, Treasury Management, Retirement Team, Internal Audit, and external vendors, managing tax filings and remittance activities relating to all Federal, State, and Local jurisdictions. This position must have expertise in reviewing, understanding, and implementing payroll tax changes. The Sr Global Payroll Tax Analyst within the Global Business Services Group is responsible for performing analytical audits of the pay cycles, balancing both vendor payroll tax files and invoice files on a monthly, quarterly, and year end basis to ensure timeliness and accuracy in processing of all tax remittance payments. This position will regularly interact with Global Payroll and Global Mobility teams in executing payroll activities for expatriates and international assignments.

What You Can Expect:

  • Lead and coordinate with Third Party Payroll Tax vendors to ensure that weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll tax and garnishment processing is completed timely and ensure all payroll tax payments are made as required.

  • Lead and manage projects related to the global tax/payroll initiatives working with internal and external partners for successful implementation.

  • Redesign processes and strategies to support payroll taxes and expatriate employee experience.

  • Analyze and implement changes to tax requirements affecting the company and its employees.

  • Research and set up state and local tax jurisdictions across multi-state sites.

  • Oversee Third Party Unemployment Vendor activities for both wage verifications and unemployment tax rates. Ensure that unemployment tax rates are updated in Workday. Act as liaison between Vendor, HR, and state agencies for any issues arising in the processing of unemployment benefits to employees.

  • Direct Third Party Relocation Vendor to process and report taxable amounts. Provide reports to Vendor on a quarterly and annual basis.

  • Work with Corporate Tax to prepare reports for Tax Credits as needed

  • Work with Procure to Pay Team to upload payments for payroll deductions such as Union Dues, Donations, NY Paid Family life, and some foreign Tax payments

  • Work with the Total Rewards Team to complete 401K audits.

  • Work with Treasury to ensure all ACH amounts Tax Vendor from have an corresponding Invoice to clear the account.

  • Prepare an Estimated Workers Compensation Report and a Final Workers Comp report for Risk Management annually

  • Work with the Compensation Team to post Imputed Income from Stock Options.

  • Work with Expat Vendor to post Quarterly Imputed Income Request

  • Work with the Retirement Team to calculate expected taxes for upcoming Retirees.

  • Serve as a back-up to Global Payroll Analyst for processing payroll in Workday for 1300+ salaried employees when needed.

  • Manage relationships and communications on behalf of Brown-Forman, its related companies and divisions with the Internal Revenue Service, State, and local tax authorities.

  • Develop and maintain documentation of Payroll Tax Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Coordinate with Third Party Vendor the production of 3500+ W-2 forms annually.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll-related data and ensure information is only provided to authorized individuals.

  • Continuous professional growth and development through internal and external workshops and seminars.

  • Maintain current knowledge of all payroll-related tax laws and regulation changes to ensure compliance by using various information sources for conducting research (e.g. Bloomberg BNA, APA, etc.).

  • Prepare an Estimated Workers Compensation Report and a Final Workers Comp report for Risk Management annually

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • 7+ years of direct experience with payroll taxes at federal, state, and local levels in a multi-state, multi-FEIN environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.

  • Advance knowledge of Excel

  • Experience in US and International payroll processing.

  • Experience setting up split and shadow payrolls for international assignments.

  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently research and manage multiple responsibilities being conscientious and detail-oriented fulfilling commitments within specified deadlines.

What Makes You Unique:

  • A professional payroll certification such as the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).

  • Experience using Workday, PeopleSoft, or SAP systems.
