Brown-Forman Strategic Communications Director - US/Corporate in Louisville, Kentucky

Meaningful Work From Day One

Serves as a member of the Global Communications Leadership Team, developing and executing communications strategies in support of Brown-Forman’s business strategy and objectives.

Acts as the strategic communications partner to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) members for the USA & Canada (USA&C) division and corporate functions, including providing proactive, strategic communications counsel to address business and communications needs.

Inspires and empowers others within our USA&C and Corporate teams to craft and share Brown-Forman stories and deliver communications excellence.

What You Can Expect

  • Partners with the Executive Communications Director, Office of the CEO to reinforce and cascade ELT/enterprise communications messages through USA&C and corporate channels

  • Provides proactive strategic communications counsel to the USA&C division and corporate functions, including development of internal communications plans and activities, working in close partnership with the respective Chiefs of Staffs

  • Leads a team of communications professionals to support execution of communications activities

  • Partners with Strategic Communications Director, Europe/Emerging International to co-lead the creative process for establishing consistent divisional and functional communications by utilizing the B-F Brand identity standards and guidelines (tone, voice, look, feel, expression, assets) and established best practices

  • Leads the communications operations and events team responsible for enterprise-wide communications channel strategy and execution (including, but not limited to, digital communications, visual design services, and in-person and virtual events)

  • Partners with External Communications Director to ensure all external communications within US/Corporate are aligned with corporate communications strategy and in compliance with external communications governance processes

What You Bring to the Table

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience working in a business-facing communications position within a corporate or agency environment

  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage and lead teams, inspiring confidence, trust, and respect through effective communication and leadership.

  • Communication Skills: Communicate with impact, demonstrating creativity and storytelling capabilities, combined with strong business acumen.

  • Writing and Editing: Superior writing and editing capabilities, with some experience designing communications materials (e.g., newsletters, presentations, websites, etc.).

  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, ensuring timely and successful completion of initiatives.

  • Diplomacy and Confidentiality: Excellence in demonstrating diplomacy, maintaining confidentiality, and building effective partnerships across stakeholders internal, external, and at all levels.

  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking skills combined with hands-on ability to execute plans effectively.

  • Cultural Understanding: Demonstrate high levels of cultural understanding, agility, and ability in all communications work, able to work effectively among different teams, cultures, and time zones.
