Brown-Forman Systems Engineer in Louisville, Kentucky

Why Does T his Job Exist?

Provide systems engineering, implementation and support for the Brown-Forman technology infrastructure, both domestic and internationally. Infrastructure includes server, storage, data networks, telecommunications, hardware, systems software, data center, information security, and 24x7 operations support for approximately 4,000 employees.

What You Can Expect:

This position will be responsible for researching, implementing, administering, and maintaining the computer network environment and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware and configurations. Following Brown-Forman’s IT project lifecycle methodology, participate in multiple simultaneous technology infrastructure projects.

Architecture & Engineering

  • Serves as an advocate for technical and business innovation by recommending and implementing technical solutions designed to provide a competitive advantage to the company

  • Identifies and implements process improvements, and assists in the development of business cases for new investments.

  • Manage assigned projects according to the IT project management methodology, procedures, and processes to drive successful outcomes for the organization

  • Verify stability, interoperability, portability, scalability and/or security of architecture components.

  • Ability to create and maintain business and system process documentation, technical specifications, system testing and documenting test results, and quality assurance of production system changes.

  • Prepare estimations of the costs of system solutions and prepare project plans to provide input into decisions about prioritizing projects and allocating IT resources.

  • Have the capability to evaluate and assess business and user needs, and suggest a technology that meets the requirements and is compatible with existing systems and Brown-Forman IT’s strategy

  • Define appropriate key indicators that aim to improve or maintain the overall environment performance such that it ensures performance and availability meet or exceed established service level standards.

General Support / Vendor Management

  • Identify concerns and/or anomalies and make appropriate accommodations and /or escalate to the appropriate resource.

  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships for infrastructure related services

  • Collaborate with external vendors responsible for various applications and solutions within our operating environments.

  • Create and maintain system documentation required for running the operational portion of the infrastructure environment.

  • Collaborate with other strategic teams to resolve problems, and take appropriate corrective action(s) to ensure systems are operating correctly and within established operational and functional SLA’s.

  • Provide engineering level support of the Brown-Forman infrastructure required to run daily operations.

We Are Looking For People Who:

  • Bachelor's Degree in electronic engineering, mathematics, computer science or related field with 3+ years of experience.

  • Candidates should be process oriented yet innovative, self-starting, hands-on technology professionals that are able to work under general supervision.

  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills, presentation and negotiation skills for communication with all levels of the organization.

  • Candidates should have a working knowledge of the following system process / components:

  • Cloud Computing / Storage

  • On-Premise Computing / Storage

  • Microsoft Active Directory Configuration and Administration

  • Server Administration (entire lifecycle)

  • Linux

  • Windows Server

  • Desktop & Device Administration (entire lifecycle)

  • Apple

  • Windows

  • Software Management / Patching Administration

  • Backup and Restore

  • Collaboration and Audio/Visual Technologies

  • Disaster Recovery / Risk Management

What Makes You Unique:

  • Ability to manage and/or participate in department level projects/assignments with some level of complexity.

  • Possess the skills to initiate, evaluate, develop, defend, and influence users adoption of IT recommendations.

  • GSuite Applications

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Azure or GCP

  • Could include, but not limited to infrastructure certifications related to VMWare, RedHat, Pure, MobileIron, Microsoft and/or Cisco.

Additional Qualifications Required:

  • Must be willing to travel outside of the Louisville Metro area 15% of the time

  • Must be able to travel Internationally 10% of the time
