Brown-Forman Homeplace Manager - Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Meaningful Work From Day One:
The Homeplace Manager at Jack Daniel’s Distillery will be responsible for the day to day oversight of Homeplace operations. This role will lead a team of approximately 150+ employees whose focus is on providing a unique and one of a kind experience for our visitors. This role will be directly responsible for the day to day management of the visitor experience team at the Home Place including Experiences, White Rabbit Bottle Shop, Ms. Mary Bobo’s Restaurant, Homeplace Retail Operations, and Motlow House. This role will collaborate and report to the Director of Jack Daniel’s Homeplace and will be involved with goal setting, employee performance, utilizing analytics to improve operations and measuring performance. Homeplace Manager will ensure and operate a safe environment for our guests and employees. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining excellent team morale and friendly culture for our employees across all Homeplace operations departments.
Leads, guides and manages Homeplace team in the daily activities associated with crafting a one of a kind guest experience for nearly 300,000 guests annually at the Jack Daniel Distillery. This role is responsible for providing operational oversight of our entire Guest Experience in Lynchburg experiences, White Rabbit Bottle Shop, Ms. Mary Bobo’s Restaurant, Lynchburg Hardware and General Store, Special Events, and Motlow House operations. Will also be responsible for the exhibits and historic preservation of the various artifacts located within our entire operation. This role will work closely with the Director of Jack Daniel’s Homeplace to implement both long and short term operational strategic plans for the overall success of the Homeplace. This role actively looks at ways to identify and implement synergies between Visitor Experience departments. Homeplace Operations Manager has (6) direct reports including (4) manager and (2) Supervisor’s.
What You'll Do in This Role:
Visitor Experience - This role will oversee the implementation and management of the daily Experiences offered at the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, in collaboration with a team of managers and supervisors responsible for managing their team activities.
Motlow House/Special Events - Supports the activities at the Motlow House associated with events, Personal Collection program, family of brands tastings, tours, and host media groups. Supports the operational team who is responsible and executes a sundry of special events, VIP experiences and annual events at one of nearly a dozen event spaces on the Distillery property and in or around Lynchburg. These events include but not limited to Indian Motorcycle Event, Camp Jack, Jack and Back, Tennessee Squire Events - Wyooter, BBQ, Special Release Events. Works in collaboration with Jack Daniel’s brand team on the Special Events and Squire program. This role will be responsible for leading teams who are directly responsible for Motlow House and Special Events teams.
Ms. Mary Bobo’s - Supports and guides in the management activities associated with the operational functions at Ms. Mary Bobo’s restaurant Will be responsible for collaborating with Ms. Mary Bobo’s leadership team to achieve a one-of-a-kind dining experience while driving for financial success.
Retail Operations - Supports and guides the management activities of the daily operations associated with the daily visitor retail experience at Lynchburg Hardware and General Store and Craig Street Fulfillment Center.
VIP/Special Events - Responsible for supporting a team which schedules, plans and executes VIP groups and Special Events throughout the year. Operations Manager will ensure proper communication across all Homeplace departments and assist with execution of events as needed.
What Exactly Are We Looking For:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospitality, Retail, Tourism or related field and a total of 5+ years’ experience in these disciplines.
Experience in leading and managing large multi-functioning team
Demonstrated skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with people at all levels including internal and external; management groups; sales, marketing; wholesalers, and retailers.
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience hosting groups, speaking in public and some exposure dealing with TV/Radio/Print/Social media. This includes the ability to be media trained by Brown-Forman Media group/agency.
Must possess or be able to acquire a Distillers Representative Card, State ServSafe Permit and be TIPS trained to serve alcohol at events and maintain certification.
Must be compliant with TTB rules and any other government or company regulations in areas of responsibility and maintain certification (i.e. Distiller’s representative card, etc.)
Preferred Experience & Education:
Experience: 4 – 6 years’ experience at a Distillery Home Place and/or Hospitality Venue
Master’s Degree in Business or Related field
Bi-lingual or multi-lingual
Extensive knowledge of the history of Jack Daniel and the town.
Knowledge of safety and security policies of Jack Daniel Distillery in relation to media requests; specific understanding of areas of sensitive and dangerous components.
