Brown-Forman Jack Daniel's 2nd Shift Bottling Supervisor in Lynchburg, Tennessee

2nd Shift - 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Scope of Position: Responsible for managing the bottling operations to produce high quality, on time and cost-efficient products with an annual volume of <18M flat cases. Ensures a safe working environment by taking a proactive approach towards maintaining safe working conditions and applying safe practices. Monitors and drives accountability for food safety, quality, and productivity measures for key bottling line functions. Facilitates a proactive working relationship with direct reports, maintenance, engineering, processing, quality control, and distribution personnel on assigned shift. Directs and supports daily activities of 40+ full time bottling personnel in meeting daily production goals. Also directs, schedules, and supports 20+ temporary laborers as needed to accomplish production requirements.

Basic Function: Responsible for providing guidance, administrative, and technical support to appropriate bottling line teams. Provides direction and support for bottling personnel including general and technical training, coaching, and problem solving. Ensures that all bottling requirements and areas of responsibility adhere to required regulatory, safety, environmental, quality, and productivity standards as established by Brown Forman and Jack Daniel’s Distillery, and takes corrective actions when necessary. Directs shift activities in order to provide an accident free and efficient workplace where production interruptions are minimized. Monitors compliance with established quality standards as to guarantee products meet internal and external expectations. Understands current bottling processes and procedures and develops methods and policies that drive continuous improvement. Ensure materials and other production components are readily available and correct for all orders. Assists work teams in formulating and applying new ideas with a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages day-to-day on-line efforts of bottling line teams to achieve optimum productivity in the most cost-efficient manner, within all safety, food safety, quality, sanitation, and budgetary considerations.

  • Drive daily, weekly, and monthly KPI results for shift while coaching/developing operators and technicians.

  • Partners with receiving, scheduling, processing, maintenance, and shipping departments to foster employee engagement and collaboration between areas on 2nd shift. Indirectly manages these groups each night by serving as senior on-site salary person for all 2nd shift.

  • Coordinates and controls the daily production schedule on assigned shift. Serves as primary contact for communication of production status with receiving, processing, scheduling, maintenance, and shipping departments.

  • Coordinates with Bottling Manager and other Supervisors to determine hourly staffing needs of full time and temporary workers based on scheduled work activity.

  • Implements and evaluates job specific training for each individual employee, whether full time or temporary.

  • Develop and Leads continuous improvement efforts and process standardization initiatives. Coordinates equipment maintenance and corrective work with Maintenance Management and Technicians.

  • Monitors and ensures compliance with applicable safety, food safety, and quality standards for all operations. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly audits to support these efforts. Performs weekly safety talks with hourly employees.

  • Manages shift housekeeping efforts to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly requirements are being met.

  • Support all SQF and ISO requirements to ensure proper procedures are being followed and that documentation is being maintained for GFSI and ISO standards.

  • Supports the bottling manager in preparation and administration of department strategic initiatives; actively participates in determining opportunities and evaluating cost saving projects.

Must Requirements (including any physical requirements):

Bachelor’s degree plus 1-year operations management/production supervision related experience; or Associates degree plus 5 years related experience.

Strong interpersonal relations skills as they relate to all levels within the company.

Must possess high level of professional integrity.

Demonstrated oral /written communication skills.

Extensive computer hardware and software experience required.

Ability to independently manage and complete assigned workload within established deadlines and to constantly seek new ideas.

Ability to work additional hours and/or shifts to meet departmental goals.

Ability to work under tight time constraints to meet departmental goals.

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to assess performance of equipment utilized in production operations.

Preferred Requirements:

2 yrs Management/ Supervisory experience within distilled spirits industry.

Experience within the Bottling Department.

Knowledge of Continuous Improvement initiatives.

SAP knowledge within distilled spirits industry
