Brown-Forman Jack Daniel's Production Manager (Boiler By-Products) in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Scope of Position:
Responsible for the management of the distillery boiler systems, by-products generation, process water treatment, waste water treatment, and charcoal production to ensure efficient operations within or below established budget requirements of approximately $14 million. Coordinates with and assists the Distillery Operations management to insure operational requirements are satisfied. Direct the activities of around two salary and twenty hourly employees to ensure each understand their role in helping their department meet company and corporate goals and objectives.
Ensure distillery operational needs are met in the areas of steam generation, stillage management and DDG production, charcoal production, and process and waste water treatment as directed by overall distillery production goals while meeting quality standards. Ensure efficient use of resources.
Coordinates Boiler, Dryhouse, Process Waters, Distillery, and Charcoal Production activities with Distillery Operations to maximize levels of production, quality, and budget adherence.
Execution of plant policies and procedures for areas of responsibility to ensure compliance with all company and corporate directed safety, quality, sanitation/housekeeping, and environmental requirements.
Work with the Maintenance Manager and Engineering Department to ensure adherence to preventative maintenance schedules, efficient planning of maintenance work in conjunction with production schedules, and adherence to budget items in the maintenance areas.
Assists in establishing operational budgets for the three primary departments; Boiler, By-Products, and Charcoal Production. Once established, ensure departments operate within or below their respective budget.
Collect and route all production data for areas of responsibility to site leadership.
Manage the By-Products Sales Department to ensure all by-products; i.e. grain, stillage, and spent charcoal, are removed from the facility in a timely manner.
Evaluate QC data regarding the efficiency of areas of responsibility, determine relevance of data, initiate corrective action, and follow up processes.
Responsible for maintaining a quality inventory of raw materials for Boiler/By-Products operations, including grains and fuels.
Work with distillery Operations Manager in identification and correction of Distillery, Boiler/By-Products, and Charcoal Production operation problems.
Must Requirements (including any physical requirements):
Greater than 5 years in depth production/plant operation experience or greater than 5 years’ experience in boiler operation along with supervisory experience
BS Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Computer skills – including spreadsheets, word processing, communications, etc.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership skills
Maintain awareness and demonstrates willingness to conform to all hygiene and sanitation requirements as detailed in the Quality Standards.
MS Degree in a related field.
Greater than 5 years distillery operations experience including water treatment, process monitoring and by-products processing
