Responsible for member service functions and processing of loan documentation for Jack Daniel Employees’ Credit Union, a state-chartered credit union with assets of over $50 million, loans of $34 million, and membership of approximately 3000. Interview credit union loan applicants, professionally representing the credit union throughout the process. Research background information on loan applicants and resolve discrepancies. Process loan applications and perform a variety of support duties related to the lending function within the credit union. Perform other duties as needed in a small credit union environment.
What You Can Expect
Complete consumer loan applications and real property/ mortgage loans in person, over the phone or electronically. These procedures may include the following:
Mail, e-mail or direct members to loan applications and/or information to members and prospective members. Gather background information on loan applicants, researching any discrepancies. Interview loan applicants in-person or by phone.
Assist members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information. Ensure that all members feel welcomed to the credit union and are supported professionally in the process. Answer questions for members throughout the process. Explain the loan process to include loan options, insurance required on credit union loan products, loan policies, interest rates, payoffs, etc. Verify employment of persons applying for loans. Present application and supporting information to loan officer or credit committee for approval. Prepare documentation, research solutions, and make recommendations for more difficult loans.
Maintain filing system and procedures to monitor that the required documentation is received and maintained appropriately and according to policies and procedures. Maintain a log of titles awaiting receipt and contact members as needed regarding documentation. Ensure that the documentation on titles is accurate and up to date.
Purge loan files by preparing out-of-date or unnecessary loan documents for destruction and documenting items pending destruction. Release liens as loans are satisfied by preparing documentation, acquiring signatures and filing with appropriate agency.
Notify proper group to place security interest of credit union on title document or insurance document.
Provides professional financial counseling for members including budgeting, expense review, and follow up review of progress.
Prepares denial documentation and mails to member as needed.
Supports loan officer with research as needed for loan compliance updates, procedure changes, business continuity system updates.
Cross-sell credit union products and services.
Assists with credit union opening or closing.
Assists with VISA credit card applications and input into the system. Also assists members with questions or account maintenance of VISA credit card accounts.
Maintains ARM adjustment documentation and disclosures according to regulatory standards for adjustable-rate mortgage loans. This includes planning early disclosures, final notices and making accurate adjustments to loan rates and payments as required.
Reviews and is aware of regulatory requirements for all lending including, Regulation Z, UCC, Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act, Flood Disaster Protection Act, and Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act.
Assists with MSR functions such as opening member accounts when needed.
Performs member transactions as needed and assists members with account questions as needed.
Assists with credit union community functions as needed and represents the credit union in the community.
Performs other duties as needed in a small credit union environment.
What You Bring to the Table
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year working in a banking or credit union institution with previous lending experience.
Previous customer service experience and confidentiality
Ability to independently manage and complete assigned workload within established deadlines utilizing initiative, discretion, and independent judgment.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel. Proven analytical mathematical skills; ability to handle detailed information with a degree of accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with sensitive financial information.
