Brown-Forman Miss Mary Bobo’s Restaurant Manager at Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee

Meaningful Work from Day One:

Manager of Miss Mary Bobo’s, which is a 6-day/week operation that provides a unique dining experience for guests visiting the Jack Daniel’s Homeplace. This includes leading the efforts of all the employees that work at Miss Mary Bobo’s Restaurant as part of the Jack Daniel’s Distillery Homeplace. Manager of Miss Mary Bobo’s provides day to day operational oversight of dining and hospitality services, in addition to retail operation within the restaurant. These three areas include two supervisors and a staff of full time and temporary employees (50+) tasked with greeting and serving visitors from across the globe. This role reports directly to the Homeplace Operations Manager Jack Daniel’s.

What you can expect:

Kitchen – Manages a culinary team responsible for the execution of daily dining services at Miss Mary Bobo’s. Manager works directly with the Kitchen Supervisor to organize the daily/weekly menu. The Restaurant Manager is responsible for the facility meeting all necessary food and safety standards.

Hospitality – Leads the activities associated with hosting visitors for dining experiences at Miss Mary Bobo’s. Manages a team of individuals that welcome, host, and support visitors to Miss Mary Bobo’s. Manager works directly with Hospitality Supervisor to implement a customer friendly atmosphere for visitors. This includes oversight of software systems XOLA and Lightspeed Retail to handle visitor transactions. This includes managing a team of 40+ part time Host/Hostess utilized in the daily operation.

Retail - Is directly responsible for operational oversight of retail operations within Miss Mary Bobo’s Restaurant and provides inventory guidance and management for the retail space. This includes buying, visual merchandising and overall sales performance.

Student Program - Responsible for the “Student Co-op Program” in partnership with Motlow College. This responsibility includes all aspects of the program including student eligibility, recruitment, individual student evaluations, scheduling and professional development while enrolled in the program.

Special Events - As part of the overall Homeplace plan, Manager will lead and execute special events at Miss Mary Bobo’s during non-traditional times. Special events around Wyooter, BBQ, and VIP Groups will be focused on driving revenue for MMB and promoting the JD Brand.

  • Will be responsible for ensuring the Guest Experience at Miss Mary Bobo’s meets with the overall Visitor Experience at the Jack Daniel’s Homeplace

  • Lead a team of approximately 60+ employees/students whose focus is on providing a unique dining experience

  • Operate a safe environment for our guests and employees.

  • Maintain excellent team morale and friendly culture at Miss Mary Bobo’s

  • Manage two Supervisors who oversee the daily operational schedule and execution for Miss Mary Bobo’s

  • Responsible for all public Health and Safety requirements necessary for operating food and beverage service at Miss Mary Bobo’s.

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of unique dining experiences throughout the year

  • Manage the retail area within Miss Mary Bobo’s to provide product available for sale for visiting guests

  • Assist Homeplace leadership team with overall Homeplace goals and objectives

  • Collaborate across departments to communicate daily/weekly/monthly operational schedules

  • Coordinate any changes to Miss Mary Bobo’s schedule/facility

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all communications surrounding the operation of Miss Mary Bobo’s including social media, eblast, etc

  • Responsible for the overall direction of the Motlow Student Co-op program at Miss Mary Bobo’s

  • Provide financial reporting and analysis of MMB operation and look for areas of improvement within the operations

We Are Looking for Someone Who Has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospitality, Retail, Tourism or related field and a total of 3+ years’ experience in these disciplines or in food and beverage industry.

  • Demonstrated skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with people at all levels including internal and external; management groups; sales, marketing; wholesalers, and retailers.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience hosting groups. This includes the ability to be media trained by Brown-Forman Media group/agency.

  • Must possess or be able to acquire a Distillers Representative Card, State ServSafe Permit and be TIPS trained to serve alcohol at events and maintain certification.

  • Must have good knowledge of safety and security policies of Jack Daniel Distillery in relation to media requests; specific understanding of areas of sensitive and dangerous components.

  • Must be compliant with TTB rules and any other government or company regulations in areas of responsibility and maintain certification (i.e. Distiller’s representative card, etc.)

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • 3 – 6 years’ experience at a Distillery Homeplace

  • 3-5 years of restaurant experience

  • Extensive knowledge of the history of Jack Daniel’s, Ms. Mary Bobo’s and the town of Lynchburg.

  • Speaking in public and some exposure dealing with TV/Radio/Print/Social media.

  • Master’s Degree in Business or Related field

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual
