Who is Brown-Forman?
B-F’s business in Italy and the Alps covers 4 markets (Italy,Austria, Switzerland and Malta ). Italy is the biggest country and represents 57% in the cluster and the 3rd most important market in Developing Europe & Iberia region.
Jack Daniel’s TW is the leading whisky brand while we are also expanding and developing the whole JD Family of Brands (FOB), with the fastest growing trend of Flavors and positive results for super-premium whiskey. B-F Emerging Brands (EMBED) are also gaining share of attention in the market with increasing investments and acceleration plans. We use a 3rd party RTC, working with 2 different distributor partners and collaborating with and influencing their sales & marketing teams.
Meaningful Work From Day One
This role is to provide financial management support and analytical insight to the Developing Europe Italy/Alps cluster. The cluster consists of four third party distribution markets in Italy, Switzerland, Austria & Malta.
This role will act as a second hand to DgE Italy/Alps Finance Manager on several aspects of financial management of DgE Italy/Alps Cluster; specifically in achievement of profit growth targets focusing in the areas of volume, pricing, profitability, cost management and investment effectiveness among others.
The person will also act as DgE Emerging Brands Finance Expert, working with respective Finance Managers, commercial and marketing teams to help drive growth of Emerging Brands (EmBED) profitably in DgE.

DgE Emerging Brands Finance Expert
This person will work with respective Finance Managers, commercial and marketingteams to help drive growth of Emerging Brands (EmBED) profitably in DgE. This personwill be sharing best practices and success stories to assure the learning from leadmarkets are reapplied in other DgE markets.
This person will also be a key contact for any questions related to EmBED pricingstrategy, costs, A&P guidance and all other finance related queries and may workdirectly with the Finance Director – Developing Europe on overall EmBED strategyacross DgE.
Commercial Support and Analytical Insights
Under supervision of the Finance Manager and in collaboration with Commercial teams support development of an active Revenue Growth Management (RGM) agenda enabled by:
Consumer Takeaway Reporting and ARM tools (where available): oversee the countrypricing and promotional plans, and advise on ongoing ways of improving pricing andpromotional efficiency.
Jedox Value Chain Tool: uncover RGM insights through the tool and drive changeworking closely with DgE commercial team and local distributor finance teams
Offline Value Chain Tool (where automatic data flow is not available): ensure offlineprice structures reflect the current market conditions (transfer prices, margins, shelfpricing, taxes, etc.) Uncover RGM insights and drive change working closely with DgEcommercial team and local distributor finance teams
Leverage the help of Europe RGM Team as needed
Interact with distributor finance teams (focusing on 5 Distributors in the Alps region)under the guidance of the Finance Manager, taking part in business reviews with thedistributor, and understanding the overall business through trade visits.
Support Finance Manager and Area Managers regarding new RTC decision making/contract renewals, and test different business possibilities leveraging external datasources as needed.
Maintain knowledge of external industry trends, utilizing data sources such IWSR forcompetitive reviews.
Analyze distributor inventory as it relates to major discrepancies between shipmentsand depletions in relevant markets (as needed basis).
Work very closely with the Finance Manager to manage P&L, acting as the second pointof contact on finance related issues.
Achieve a deep understanding of cluster markets and give support to the FinanceManager and Commercial Team in areas such as pricing, margin control, new SKUcreation, performance evaluation, and brand investment opportunities.
Provide monthly P&L analysis and support to the Finance Manager to provide insightsfor the cluster; track, analyze and report on discounting, growth bonuses and brandexpense to ensure that internal and external stakeholders are informed and remainwithin budgets/projections.
Participate in and support the Finance Manager on financial aspects of monthlybusiness reviews (MBRs).
Support the Finance Manager to ensure our financial results are accurately reported(proper expense classification within the P&L line items, properly supported accruals,monitoring of receivables, etc.).
Perform quarterly and annual distributor margin reconciliations for the cluster and help as needed distributor bonus reconciliations.
Budget, Projection and Long Term Planning Processes
Support the rolling forecasting process for the cluster.
Support timely submission for market consolidation.
Help the Finance Manager for integrity of data, variance analysis and financial evaluation of range forecasts.
Support the development of long-term strategic plans and multi-year investment case proposals.
Support the preparation of presentations, analyses and documents, including WhitePapers, relating to the Budgets and Projections.
Collaborate with Marketing and Accounting teams to oversee the A&P budgetManagement release of funds according to forecast guidelines tracking of spend to ensure that the Marketing teams (and/or) distributors are within permitted spend
What You Bring to the Table
College/University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
Post qualification experience
Experience in the wine and spirits industries or FMCG would be a plus
Experience with SAP and BW.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects to completion by agreed deadlines.
Experience with computer applications in accounting, budgeting and valuation techniques; in particularly advanced PC skills incl. G-Suite, Excel and PowerPoint.
Familiar with working with foreign currencies, exchange rates, and conversion factors.
Fluency in English and Italian ( or willingness to learn )
