Brown-Forman Procurement Category Manager - Travel (multiple posting locations, remote available) in Prague 1, Czech Republic

Position Summary:

Lead sourcing requirements analysis, risk mitigation, supplier expertise, and value delivery in designated category. Create and implement category sourcing strategies, coordinating regional and local sourcing resources as needed, and building stakeholder alignment. Negotiate and implement major commercial agreements, and resolve supplier disputes. Lead key supplier development and improvement efforts. Support and leverage financial and spend systems.

Scope: Provides strategic direction for Global Travel Management (GTM) organization/functions, representing annual spend for global business travel expenses in excess of $25 million (air, lodging and ground transportation). In addition to the full responsibilities listed, this position will have an added project emphasis on strategic GTM design and execution in order to transform a fragmented travel organization and delivery model into a cohesive global platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead sourcing requirements analysis, risk mitigation, supplier expertise, and value delivery in designated categories, while adhering to standardized B-F Strategic Sourcing policies and procedures.

  • Recommend preferred partners including travel management companies (TMC’s), online booking tools (OBT’s), airlines, air charter providers, hotel and ground transportation providers on a global/regional/country basis.

  • Provide input to continued T&E global policy evolution

  • Create and implement category sourcing strategies, coordinating regional and local sourcing resources as needed, and building stakeholder alignment. Work closely with key internal customers across the organization, to develop effective cost reduction strategies, while meeting specification standards.

  • Establish and maintain an effective internal network of champions to promote and develop practices for service delivery models, addressing country specific requirements (e.g., delivery, legal, tax, etc.) and feedback;

  • Promote work/life effectiveness and employee engagement through travel strategies

  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with Transportation Sales, Event Planning, Risk Management, Legal and Human Resources.

  • Negotiate and implement major commercial agreements, and resolve supplier disputes.

  • Effectively select, negotiate with and implement service delivery partners (e.g., TMC’s, OBT’s, airlines, air charter companies, hotels, ground transportation, etc.);

  • Negotiate with preferred partners to reduce costs while delivering optimal level of service to travelers

  • Regularly review regional or country-specific TMC’s to ensure that consistent, professional travel services and cost savings are provided in all locations.

  • Promotes B-F brands and responsible consumption with travel vendors

  • Lead key supplier development and improvement efforts, with a special focus on supplier diversity.. Maintain key performance metrics appropriate for each commodity category and suppliers. Build effective, consistent, and equitable strategic supplier relationships, while maintaining a high standard of ethics.

  • Design a roadmap and execute this plan to transform fragmented travel organization and delivery into a cohesive, world-class global platform - one that maximize employees effectiveness while minimizing travel-related global spend (both travel costs and related transactional fees).

  • Continuously analyze data and apply benchmarks renegotiating partner contracts when needed to improve service and/or reduce costs

  • Research, benchmark and recommend travel management strategies (policies, practices, programs and services) that help drive GTM engagement and reduce overall travel expenditures.

  • Continuously assess current GTM strategy including internal vs outsourced service matrix and recommend updates as needed.

  • Ensure delivery of service level agreements and cost reduction commitments

  • Support and leverage financial and spend systems

  • Provide direction of online booking tool functionality, including Concur Travel, where implemented

  • Direct the implementation of TMC’s and OBT(s) according to global strategy

  • Perform analysis to understand travel spend and monitor compliance for Travel strategy. Assist with driving behaviors toward compliance working with key stakeholders and/or services providers for alignment/adjustment to optimize value to B-F.

Must Requirements:

  • BS in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or related field

  • 7+ years experience in sourcing (including 4 years experience procuring a broad range of Travel industry services)

  • Expertise in developing /leading in Request For Proposal (RFP), Request For Information (RFI) and Request For Quote (RFQ)

  • Ability to develop strategic sourcing vision and plans, and implement through exceptional execution.

  • Strong working knowledge of Travel industry contracts negotiation and demonstrable experience with a focus on delivering significant savings in a challenging, multi-layered global environment.

  • Superior negotiation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to persuade, motivate and compel support for key ideas and initiatives, via persuasive discussions, and delivering clear and concise presentations.

  • Ability to influence decision making, and create consensus, in cross-functional and multi-site teams, and with suppliers.

  • Knowledge of finance and financial methods, with the ability to translate analysis into strategies, actions, and results.

  • Ability to identify and focus on top priorities, and balance multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to foster a high performance environment among diverse individuals, including developing procurement talent.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change among stakeholders.

  • Ability to travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Global travel industry experience

  • World class ERP and spend management system experience (SAP/Coupa/Concur, etc.).

  • Fundamental understanding of contract terms and conditions.

  • Spirits, beer, wine, beverages, food, pharmaceutical or CPG industry experience.

  • Experience performing in a matrix organization. Ability to move between roles of team member and team leader.

Salary Grade: 31 4B (United States grade)
