What You Can Expect:

• Working closely with JDPI’s attorneys, paralegals, and other team members, the Trademark Paralegal will assume a project management role for offensive and defensive conflicts involving the Jack Daniel’s brand worldwide and assist with overflow clearance and prosecution work for Brown-Forman’s brands on an as-needed basis. This includes:

• Researching and analyzing potential trademark infringements, including conducting third party trademark searches using available databases, desktop research, and reviewing watch notices;

• Managing case dockets and deadlines;

• Instructing and managing outside counsel in conflict matters;

• Drafting affidavits, and gathering and reviewing evidence to support trademark enforcement cases;

• Working with attorneys to draft and send cease and desist letters and follow-up communications to infringers;

• Working on online enforcement matters, including collaborating with JDPI’s e-commerce enforcement service provider and drafting and submitting infringement takedown requests to online marketplaces and social media websites;

• Conducting and analyzing trademark searches and drafting clearance reports;

• Handling prosecution of domestic and foreign trademark applications; and

• Assisting in other intellectual property-related matters as needed.

What You Bring to the Table:

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the “can-do” attitude needed for a fast-paced environment. Candidates must also possess the following:

• Bachelor's Degree

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a paralegal

• Strong attention to detail and superior time management and organizational skills

• Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing

• Willingness to take ownership and show initiative

• Demonstrated ability to work cohesively and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

What Makes You Unique:

• Trademark paralegal experience preferred

• Familiarity with WebTMS trademark management system and Google Workspace tools (including Gmail) desired.

What We Pay:

The range of pay for the role is $53/hour-$60/hour

The base salary will be $42.40/hour-$48/hour paid semi-monthly; the cost of labor allowance equal to 25% of the base salary will be paid monthly.

NOTE: Base salary range depends on a combination of job-related factors, including candidate skills and experience.
