Brown-Forman Marketing Manager - Greater China in Shanghai, China

The Brown-Forman (B-F) China business is a key priority growth country, with very ambitious volume and value growth and will remain a strong focus from global leadership.

Meaningful work from day one

This position will be responsible for building our portfolio strategy for the overall business, leading our journey to build the right share of voice for key brands. You will represent a team of trade and brand managers on the leadership team, and work with the general manager to provide support to distributor partners and senior management in Asia to give them the confidence on strategy and plans.

What you can expect

Brand Management

  • Lead annual Brand & Country planning process cross functionally

  • Create vision & strategic roadmap for portfolio & brand growth with clear priorities on sales and resource

  • Develop brand initiatives and program calendar to build equity whilst driving sustainable and profitable sales targets

  • Drive brand importance and fame through BRM channels as well as advocacy programs

  • Identify research & insight opportunities - leveraging key processes, frameworks and resources to understand customer, consumer, channel, campaign insights for more informed decision making & planning

  • Collaborate with other Asia marketing and brand managers to build cost synergies

  • Monitor brand performance against sales forecasts. Determine corrective action where necessary in conjunction with field sales staff

Leadership

  • Lead and develop the team of brand and trade marketing managers

  • Support the China Leadership Team as a thought partnership role

  • Manage the brand P&L

  • Educate and elevate China’s profile amongst Global key stakeholders including preparing and presenting product/brand presentations and proposals

  • Multiple agency management across creative, design, media, activation to ensure best-in-class execution and within company compliance

  • Provide guidance and leadership to On Premise Brand Champions

Commercial Management

  • Partner closely with E-Commerce and Commercial leaders to ensure continuity and consistency of brand plans to our field team

  • Spend time in the trade to understand practical implementation of all marketing promotional activities

  • Lead and negotiate all sponsorship proposals and agreements

  • Liaise with sales staff on the execution of marketing plans in the field, and review the effectiveness of all marketing activities.

  • Conduct full marketing evaluations and make recommendations to further benefit the brand

Your profile

  • Marketing or business related tertiary qualification

  • Local market experience

  • Min 8+ years of developing brand and category strategies with strong ATL experience

  • 3 years + in a management role/leadership role

  • Marketing related role in a FMCG company

  • Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin)

What you can add to the team

  • Experience in trade marketing or consumer insights/commercial role

  • Experience in managing matrix organization with multiple local, regional and global stakeholders

  • In-depth knowledge of China trade and activation elements

  • Experience in liquor industry, particularly On Premise is highly regarded

  • Expertise in Media landscape with strong agency management skills
