Brown-Forman Senior Finance Manager - SEA in Singapore, Singapore
Scope of Position:
Leads, directs and administers the financial activities for South East Asia region (SEA), being one of the key members of the Leadership Team. Provides advice and counsel on key business issues to the General Manager SEA, including strategy, distribution agreement, business planning, forecasting, management reporting, internal controls and route to market structures, as well as ensuring proper accounting procedures.
Responsible for financial strategy and planning to support profitable business growth, (financial accounting), budgets, strategic resource allocation, projections, financial analysis, capital expenditures and administrative functions.
Leads the local teams across SEA responsible for financial activities locally: local statutory reporting and filing (audit and tax), accounts payable functions accurate and timely month, quarter and year end closing procedures, as well as analytical support for commercial and brand operations including decision support on pricing, trading terms, sales insights,operating expenses and resource allocation. Person will be responsible for development and talent management of the teams.
- Strategic Planning
Identifies opportunities for sales and profit improvement and supports development of long-term strategic plans.
Develops the analysis to support the long-range planning process with SEA leadership through the development of comprehensive financial models and a strategic roadmap of “how to achieve the goals”.
Collaborates with other functional areas (like Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain) to identify areas of possible growth and expansion and new profit opportunities and also short and long term promotions and discounts.
- Financial Analysis & Operation Effectiveness
Establishes procedures and systems necessary for concise, accurate, periodic financial reports on a timely basis on SEA results and financial position.
Oversees SEA business analytic functions; appraises SEA’s financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports that provide insights into the drivers of results.
Prepares financial analysis, capital budgeting requests and provides analytical support to SEA business.
Leads the team to ensure the accurate and smooth execution of financial operations locally
- Budget and Forecast
Issues accurate financial forecasts on the current state of the business measured against the on-going business updates on a timely basis along with the appropriate qualitative / quantitative analysis and recommendations.
Oversees the budgeting and forecasting processes and interpretation and presentation of such information.
- Accounting and Internal Controls
Ensures all appropriate financial controls and local legal/regulatory requirements are properly followed and certify the region’s results quarterly for Sarbanes-Oxley purposes.
Liaising with internal and external auditing entities including income tax auditors
Ensure accurate and timely closing of the books and sign off on monthly trial balance
Work with 3rd party payroll provider in Indonesia and Philippines for monthly payroll
Work closely with ACT to ensure all employees are well informed of accounting policies, procedures, and regulations. Continually facilitates accurate accounting practices
Works with other stakeholders to develop policies and procedures for the establishment and maintenance of proper internal controls surrounding financial results throughout the SEA markets, including compliance with corporate policies.
Works with IT and Business Intelligence teams to develop management reporting and analytical tools to control the business as well as improve efficiency in all areas of the commercial business.
- Commercial Structures
Oversees pricing and associated cost structures of brands and propose to the management team for consideration, e.g. SKU pricing management, etc.
Provide necessary analysis support to sales teams
Coordinate with our Distribution Partners and other business partners to ensure the required documentation is received as per contract stipulations.
Provide support pertaining to the logistic function for SEA region by working closely with Regional Supply Chain and U.S. Customer Service

Provides leadership and direction to Finance teams.

Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Administration
At least 8 years relevant Finance and Accounting experience
Proven leadership and decision-making abilities
Outstanding oral and written communications skills with the ability to develop and present financial strategies and translate these into actionable plans
Strong consultative and diagnostic skills
Excellent quantitative/mathematical skills with strong ability to interpret financial results and analysis
Demonstrated ability to manage and complete diverse activities within an established time frame
Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts and with diverse cultures
High level of integrity and trust
Excellent manager and talent developer in a diverse culture - demonstrated commitment to providing regular, constructive feedback to teams; demonstrated coaching ability; ability to objectively assess both skills and potential of talents
Master in Business Administration with a concentration in finance
Prior Experience in the alcoholic beverage industry or a branded consumer products company/business
Reputable financial/accounting designations such as Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Prior experience establishing internal control structures and processes
Prior experience in growing businesses in emerging markets
Education/experience in international business
