Brown-Forman Maintenance Supervisor - Spencer in Spencer, Indiana

Responsible for all maintenance, plant facilities and systems at the Brown-Forman Stave Mill. Directly supervises the activities of approximately 4 skilled crafts employees across 1 shift. Responsible for creating a team environment focused on employee engagement, safety and a workplace that fosters a safety first culture and teamwork.

Provides direction and support to the site maintenance team and is responsible for plant and facility maintenance. Ensures that maintenance activities and areas of responsibility adhere to required regulatory, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for all machinery and facility maintenance. Provides direction and support to the maintenance employees; sets policy and establishes procedures for the Mill; and, monitors and supervises maintenance activities to ensure productive, efficient operations, compliant with all regulatory requirements.1, 20%

Prioritizes, plans, schedules, and communicates work orders for each shift daily. Ensures that each maintenance technician is fully utilized and holds them accountable for completion of scheduled work. Communicates daily with maintenance employees to assess status of current maintenance needs, assign or adjust work orders, follow up on assigned work, and plan and schedule future maintenance work to include daily staffing and overtime assignments. 1, 25%

Manages spare parts inventory to optimal levels in concert with the Mill Manager to stay within budget. Develops and utilizes inventory management systems, and serves as central point of receiving for shipments to maintenance. 1,10%

Works with equipment manufacturers, supervision, and trades to design and maintain effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and systems. Develops preventative maintenance work order packages through the use of eMaint. Provides recommendations for preventative maintenance program improvements. 1,15%

Communicates daily with maintenance employees across all shifts to assess status of current maintenance needs, assign or adjust work orders, follow up on assigned work, and plan and schedule future maintenance work. 1,20%

Stays abreast of changing regulatory, environmental, safety, OSHA and other requirements through training and education as they pertain to engineering and maintenance support. Provides for the general growth and development of subordinate staff, establishes performance standards and monitors and evaluates performance within these standards. 1, 10%

Required Experience & Education:

Experience: Previous maintenance supervisor experience, mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance experience required, with 3-5 years applicable experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 3 years experience in the repair and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and the ability to prepare and present finished reports and project updates using word processing, spreadsheet or other computer applications. Demonstrated ability to work with employees at all levels of an organization. Ability to climb stairs and ladders, climb over and under conveyors and generally move about in a manufacturing environment in the course of inspecting, observing and managing operations.

Skills: Mechanical Aptitude, Multi-Tasking Ability, Oral & Written Communication Skills and Analytical Skills. Metal fabrication, welding, hydraulic motor and industrial electrical experience a must.

Experience: PLC control systems, experience in woodworking industry
