Brown-Forman Associate Scientist - Product Development - Part time fixed contract in Stein, Netherlands
Job Summary: Lead Research & Development function as well as New Product Development activities for BF’s European Operations (including for products to be bottled at Co-Pack operations).
Plan, coordinate and control of processes for the concentrates production. Ensure that all concentrates are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost, level of quality and in time to support production at bottling facilities.
75% - R&D, New Product Development:
Concentrate Development – Creation of all new flavor concentrates for new initiatives or line extensions for production in the EU market.
Costing and coordination of ingredient development within SAP.
Establishing all Quality parameters for production, shipping, and storage.
SKU Management – Collection and management of product information for all products and ingredients for the EU market.
To include population of DevEX with all necessary information to support Supply Chain, Quality & Customer Service groups (i.e. Regulatory, Nutritional, Allergen, GMO, ...).
Compliance – Liaising with Legal, Flavor Houses and Spirits Europe to ensure continued compliance for all products and ingredients.
Development and active review of E number additives which are essential to production of all B-F products for the EU marketplace.
EU Production Support – Support of Co-packers for New Product Launches for the EU Market.
Ensure formula is transferred correctly, Quality specification information is in place, attend production of initial batches to train plant personnel, validation of specifications post production.
25% - Concentrate Plant – Blending activities
In conjunction with the European Operations Quality, Technical Support and Process Manager, support the blending activities at the concentrate plant:
oversee the production process to support the concentrate needs at the co-packers
If needed and in conjunction with buyer, oversee procurement activities for the concentrate plant including for all ingredients are used in the blending process. Ensure all raw materials received have the right quantity and are within specifications
Complete and archive all paperwork and batch documentation in a timely manner.
Required Experience & Education:
Education: College/University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry
Experience in R&D working with a food manufacturing or food development company.
Project management skills.
Familiarity with product development process from ideation through product roll out.
Proactive problem solver.
Excellent technical writing skills.
Experience with MS Office Suite
Preferred Experience & Education:
Experience with ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).
