Brown-Forman Brand Manager - Woodford Reserve & Old Forester (Fixed term contract) in Sydney, Australia

Reports to: Marketing Manager - Emerging Whiskey, Insights & Innovation

Role Scope: Manage the development and implementation of marketing plans for assigned brands/products in consultation with the Marketing Manager, other marketing and internal stakeholders.

*This position is a fixed term contract role until September 2020*

Key Responsibilities:

Brand and Innovation Strategy

  • Lead the development and approval of annual brand plans for assigned brands and expressions.

  • Devise and manage brand objectives, strategies and promotional programs in line with local brand strategy and positioning.

  • Lead the briefing, development and approval process for any local creative or global creative adaptations, working with the Portfolio Planning & Insights team to ensure Apollo alignment

  • Lead development, approval process and implementation of key brand programs through the line with the Channel Activation Team, Digital Team and Sales Managers.

  • Partner with our Digital & Marketing Services teams to ensure brand programs and activities are fully integrated through the line and communicated to the field sales teams.

  • Collaborate with Digital and Activation teams in liaising with agency partners in the design and production of marketing materials.

  • Collaborate with Digital team in liaising with our media strategy partner to build & implement our media strategy and media plans.

Leadership

  • Be the face of assigned brands, communicate with inspiration and passion to drive momentum and engagement across all stakeholders internal and external

  • Lead the overall strategy of the brand(s) they are responsible for – the main contact for select programs and expressions

  • Lead the knowledge of brand assets and their relevance to the local market and communicate adequately to other key areas of the business.

  • Lead implementation and communication of brand programs through to the activation managers to ensure premium and on-time executions.

  • Lead and implement any brand related NPD initiatives from strategy to execution

Commercial management

  • Fully understand the brand P&L and the associated levers that are and could be required to add benefit to the overall band performance to deliver long term profitable growth

  • Evaluation of brand performance and plans including contribution of programs and expressions.

  • Spend time in the trade to understand practical implementation of all marketing promotional activities.

  • Liaise with sales staff on the execution of marketing plans in the field, and review the effectiveness of all marketing activities.

  • Monitor brand performance against sales forecasts. Determine corrective action where necessary in conjunction with sales counterparts.

  • Monitor market landscape (category, consumer & shopper) to highlight and scope out future brand related NPD opportunities

Organizational networking

  • Be “the face of the brand” to all internal and external stakeholders

  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager and other Brand Managers to develop understanding of the overall trademarks

  • Facilitate, lead collaboration and take key stakeholders throughout the organization “on the journey” for key programs and strategic initiatives

  • Work with the Portfolio Planning and Insights team to measure and review all relevant research data information into development of brand building activities which build equity whilst driving sustainable and profitable sales targets

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Marketing or business related tertiary qualification plus 3-5 years experience in marketing; or 7+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience and (operational) responsibility in ATL and BTL. Should be able to understand social media marketing, even if not an expert.

  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills. Able to translate insight into new ideas and strategies and recommend changes as he/she deems fit for growth.

  • Passion for brands and able to translate this into “ambassador” type of attitude and behavior to the sales managers and retail.

  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills, persuasive, and able to build strong working relationships (local and international).

The following requirements would be highly regarded;

  • Experience in trade marketing or consumer insights/commercial role

  • Experience in Shopper Marketing

  • Experience in liquor industry, particularly On Premise

  • Experience in a multi-national company
