Brown-Forman Commercial Operations Manager in Sydney, Australia

Our Australian team of around 150 people, work in regional and city locations throughout the country, with offices in Sydney (Head Office), Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Meaningful Work From Day One

The Commercial Operations Manager is an integral sales leadership role within the Brown-Forman Australia (BF-A) business. Primarily, the role is to lead initiatives and processes that enable better planning, more informed decision making and drive greater effectiveness of the commercial organisation.

Critical to this role is the ability to work cross functionally and influentially across the organisation to lead continuous improvement and enable the wider commercial organisation to positively grow our business and our brands.

What You Will Experience

Revenue Management

  • Lead, from a commercial perspective, trade investment management, reporting and optimisation

  • Partner on channel pack price architecture execution, customer mix and margin management

  • Collaborate on promotional strategy, efficiency, analysis and ongoing evaluation and review and make recommendations on corrective action

  • Design strategies to grow revenue and contribute to pricing / promotional plans on new product development

  • Develop revenue and operational systems and tools to enable timely insight and analysis

Commercial Operations and Reporting

  • Lead commercial reporting including key customer reporting, field sales reporting and market share benchmarking

  • Coordinate the planning, reporting and reconciliation of sales incentives

  • Manage commercial tools and third party providers including car fleet and refrigeration and point of sale storage/delivery

  • Organise and manage seasonal merchandising and sampling programs with internal stakeholders and external providers

  • Collaborate on customer/outlet segmentation and targeting and lead opportunity evaluation

  • Manage and coordinate the development of salesforce dashboards

  • Provide timely competitor analysis to key stakeholders

Business Planning

  • Lead sales and marketing business planning processes and coordinate planning activities with other functions and stakeholders

  • Coordinate sales forecasting, planning and reporting processes

  • Partner on new business targeting and opportunity evaluation, and formulate recommendations to grow revenue and profit

  • Develop and maintain National Sales calendar

Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of two direct reports

  • Act as a trusted advisor on revenue management and commercial operation topics to the Sales Leadership Team in addition to other senior business leaders

  • Lead the growth of diversity and inclusion within the team where different perspectives are encouraged and valued

  • Implement and foster a brand building culture with a focus on continuous improvement

  • Spend time in trade across all channels to drive business understanding and identify opportunities

Data and Systems Management

  • Lead further implementation of enabling technologies and systems including CRM across the commercial organisation

  • Lead new customer and account integration processes

  • Manage all pricing and product submissions and processes with all direct customers

  • Represent the sales leadership team in internal and external data and systems forums

Your profile

  • Prior experience in sales or finance management / leadership

  • Demonstrated people and team leadership

  • Minimum 5 years experience within the FMCG industry. Experience in liquor industry is advantageous

  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, P & L experience

  • Experience in revenue management / commercial strategy / trading terms is highly regarded

  • Proven success in developing partnerships and influence key stakeholders

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related discipline
