Brown-Forman Supply Chain Manager - Japan in Tokyo, Japan

The Supply Chain Manager will be taking the lead to support the Japan market from a Supply Chain perspective. This position is an all-round role involving a variety of fundamental disciplines

that are critical to the success of the market, which is expanding with a lot of opportunities. It is a key role to drive further expansion of our business in Japan.

What You Can Expect

Supply Chain Strategy & Planning

  • Support financial targets by proactively manage any issues related to supply, stock, warehouse and logistics, and order processing

  • Develop strategies for managing supply risk through identification, assessments and prioritization of risk in supply area and constraint planning

  • Take a Lead role in monthly forecast review meeting with Commercial Leaders and develop a consensus forecast, identify forecast gap and changes

  • Participate in monthly demand planning calls with Louisville Planning team

  • Manage replenishment orders to Japan local warehouse based on latest demand and inventory level

  • Support Portfolio development by completing new brand, product and SKU introductions / rationalizations, including any special pack/ label requirements

3PL Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Monitor performance of 3PL warehouse, in terms of inventory accuracy, on-time delivery of inbound and outbound shipments, customs clearance, documents & data accuracy

  • Lead contract renewal process, manage logistics cost and negotiate favourable rates and terms

  • Manage overall inventory holdings and stock turns

  • Monitor inventory level to ensure continuous supply; present risks, scenarios and proposals to Commercial Leaders

  • Develop and Implement inventory strategies which cater for markets needs

  • Monitor Slow moving/ aged stock, collaborate with Commercial Leaders for depletion plan

  • Manage monthly inventory reconciliations and yearly stock take

  • Identify and coordinate requirements of VAP Repack and relabelling activities

  • Manage inventory of POSM items

Order Fulfillment & Logistics

  • Monitor outbound orders and shipments, facilitate communications between 3PL warehouse and customers on all logistics matters to ensure timely shipments

  • Manage the research and resolution of customer order discrepancies

  • Manage importing requirements including documentation, certification, analyses, samples and all other related requirements

  • Monthly calls with Louisville Operations team to review open replenishment orders and all logistics issues

People Development

  • Ability to grow and develop direct report(s), focusing on teaching them to work toward solution-oriented initiatives and advancement of supply chain

  • Serve as strategic thinker, helping to project outward on ways to grow and simplify the complexities of the supply chain and logistics workflow

  • Ability to challenge the status quo and to teach the same for direct report(s)

  • Serve as a strong coach and partner to both direct reports and peers

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field

  • 10 years experience in Supply Chain function, preferably in alcohol beverage or FMCG industries

  • Fluent in Japanese and English

  • Good knowledge in Importation and Local Customs regulations, Logistics, S&D planning,

  • Warehouse Management and Order Fulfillment

  • Experience in ERP system e.g. SAP

  • Able to work a flexible schedule to meet demands of the role; experience in MNC is preferrable

  • High degree of independent judgment and decision making

  • Key problem-solving skill in developing strategies and actions

  • Strong engagement and leadership skills with the ability to communicate well with stakeholders across various functions
