Brown-Forman Woodford Reserve Plant Production Leader - Reguage & Processing - 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM in Versailles, Kentucky

Responsible for safety, morale, quality, productivity, delivery and cost in Woodford Reserve regauge and processing operations. Serve front line leader and strategic contributor to organizational leadership team. Schedule daily and weekly production activities and assign duties and responsibilities for a minimum of 19 operators. Lead and coach employees in the proper performance of duties, provide training and address performance issues. Review and submit payroll on a weekly basis. Approve vacation and personal day requests. Administer attendance-related discipline as needed. Control labor costs and expenditures and supervise operations within department productivity targets and budget. Supervise operations to achieve established standards for sanitation, quality, safety and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

Safety/Environmental

Manage and drive key leader metrics, including conducting Take a Minute for safety, performing area assessments and resolving all corrective actions in a timely manner meeting Leadership Engagement metrics.

Maintain a safe work environment and promote accident prevention by eliminating potential hazards.

Effectively manage incident response process, including educating team on and ensuring accountability for following policy.

Understand and adhere to federal, state and local regulations.

Actively engage with and own relevant aspects of site EHS compliance metrics.

Morale

Leverage job-specific training to empower team members to fully perform the core functions of the job with self-initiative and accountability for their work and the goals of the team.

Quality

Collaborate with quality control team to ensure operators are trained to perform responsibilities with accuracy and per SOPs, update work instructions and obtain variance approvals, as necessary.

Manage quality of raw materials, liquid and finished goods per quality assurance standards.

Manage operational performance against master schedule for area housekeeping and sanitation to meet or exceed plant KPIs.

Productivity

Provide floor leadership for daily activities, creating and managing daily schedule, including batch requirements and barrel picks in accordance with TTB requirements and in partnership with Processing Operations Specialist.

Partner with R&D in support of new product development.

Partner with warehouse supervisor to efficiently manage resources, including people and equipment, and schedule for overall regauge, processing and warehouse operation.

Effectively partner with BFDO warehousing team to manage aged barrel inventory.

Support By the Barrel program, managing barrel inventory, ensuring accurate sampling and supporting dumping and processing of liquid for personal selection team.

Monitor and record equipment downtime.

Investigate equipment and system failures and provide troubleshooting guidance to operators on all bottling and processing equipment.

Support maintenance and engineering organizations by utilizing work order processes, preventive maintenance program, and equipment downtime tracking and capital work development.

Develop, implement and evaluate job specific skills training for all team members.

Delivery

Collaborate with site leadership team, including bottling and planning managers, to manage liquid against the schedule, ensuring on-time delivery and product accuracy.

Support Old Forester Distillery with re-barreled products and Buy the Barrel programs.

Coordinate bulk-tank deliveries and drum filling to external manufacturing locations and customers.

Continuous Improvement

Support team in operational problem resolutions, continuous improvement and standardizing production processes.

Engage in CI training and integration into Woodford Reserve organization and support ongoing efforts to improve OEE. Explore innovation in terms of technology, people, processes and systems.

Utilize resources effectively.

Develop/plan short and long range objectives in support of company.

Cost Containment

Leverage resources effectively to meet plant KPIs per budget standards.

Participate in budget and capital development.

Manage labor/overhead budget for respective shift.

Develop and implement cost savings projects.

Required Experience & Education:

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2-5 years manufacturing leadership experience, or associate’s degree with 5-7 years related experience, or, in lieu of degree, at least 8 years manufacturing leadership experience.

Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing groups and major projects or initiatives.

Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.

Ability to manage and complete assigned workload within established deadlines and to constantly seek new improvement ideas.

Ability to work additional hours and/or shifts to meet departmental goals (including weekends as needed).

Ability to work under tight time constraints to meet departmental goals.

Ability to implement employee engagement processes and contribute to the growth of team-based leadership.

Demonstrated ability to use computer software with general computer skills.

Preferred Experience & Education:

Education: Masters Degree (M.A., MBA or Equivalent);

Experience: Experience in distilled spirits industry and/or warehousing and processing environments

Experience with continuous improvement projects

SAP experience

MBA or master’s degree
