Brown-Forman Woodford Reserve Senior Quality Control/Food Safety Specialist in Versailles, Kentucky
Meaningful Work From Day One Under the leadership of the Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager, responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, training, and compliance of the Food Safety and Quality Systems for Woodford Reserve. Coordinates and directs activities in the sampling, treatment, and adjustment of spirits to support daily production on 1st shift. Acts as a liaison between QC and Operations, to ensure Operations has adequate support to meet quality standards, production schedule and efficiency targets
Responsible for directing the qualitative analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods samples collected throughout the spirits manufacturing process. Has ultimate authority regarding chemical analysis, treatment, adjustment, and approval for processing, bottling and finished goods warehousing.

Serves as the PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) for Woodford Reserve. Reviews and verifies all daily production documents as outlined in HACCP, FSMA, and SQF programs.
Ensures compliance with all Quality Systems and regulatory guidelines.
Ensures all annual and ongoing food safety training is conducted to create a culture of food safety.
Directs and oversees routine maintenance and calibration of all laboratory and production monitoring equipment used Quality Control Department as well as plant operators, to ensure compliance
Supports the activities of WR Quality Control Department; including, but not limited to material and spirits quality control, finished goods quality control, and site housekeeping and sanitation.
Works with internal partners, such as B-F Quality Assurance and R&D as needed. Oversees data trends on all products; writing variances, request specification adjustments, or formulas/procedures changes as needed.
Partners with Operations and B-F Packaging to ensure packaging materials and finished goods meet B-F quality standards.
Serves as WR Bottling representative on project teams as required, coordinating material test runs and ensuring smooth introduction of new products.
Partner with Operations to help design efficient and effective packaging changes to improve site performance.
Monitors the packaging of spirits beverages to ensure adherence to B-F quality standards and specifications.
Monitors finished package appearance offering troubleshoot support to Operations and/or taking appropriate corrective actions as needed.
Partners with Operations to troubleshoot material quality concerns, holding vendors accountable and documenting production impact.
Conducts monthly HK&S and quality systems audits, making suggestions for improvement when necessary.
Lead and develop QC team members to result in employee and department success, favorable business results, and a sound succession plan.
Maintains communication with QC team members, sharing information and training documents as needed.
Responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, training, and compliance of the Food Safety and Quality Systems for Woodford Reserve.
Provide guidance and support for managers/supervisors to comply with quality system requirements
Responsible for the quality corrective action program
Responsible for covering 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift due to vacations, leave or as needed
Serve as a backup Plant Production Leader for operations as needed.
Participate in continuous improvement projects, including operational problem resolutions and process standardization.
Explore innovation in terms of technology, people, processes and systems.

Leverage resources effectively to meet plant KPIs per budget standards

We Are Looking For People Who
Have a Bachelor’s Degree in a science discipline such as chemistry, biology, physics or engineering with a minimum 2 years of food safety or quality related experience in beverage alcohol, beverage or food industries, OR, an Associate’s Degree in a science discipline such as chemistry, biology, physics or engineering with a minimum of 5 years of food safety or quality related experience in beverage alcohol, beverage or food industries OR equivalent food safety or quality work experience in beverage alcohol, beverage or food industries.
Knowledge of analytical methods and laboratory procedures, including general laboratory equipment.
Experience with bottling and/or food packaging materials. Experience leading and developing others.
Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP and GMP’s
Demonstrated ability to perform and interpret statistical analyses
Demonstrated written communication skills with ability to develop written procedures as well as clear, concise report of technical data
Demonstrated project leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate efforts of managers of other departments
Demonstrated oral communication skills
What You Can Add To The Team
B.S. Degree in Food Science, or a degree in related field accompanied by food manufacturing experience
SQF Certified Practitioner
Relevant professional certifications in Quality Systems such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Auditor.
Previous experience with SQF, GFSI, FSMA
Experience with EtQ Software, Lucid Charts, and iAuditor
Prior experience in Google Docs/Sheets/Slides/Sites
