Brown-Forman Finance Manager - Thailand in Thailand

Leads, directs and administers the financial activities for Thailand. Provides advice and counsel on key business issues to the Country Manager, including strategy, legal agreements, business planning, forecasting, management reporting and processes and distribution structures, as well as ensuring proper accounting procedures. Responsible for Thailand financial strategy and planning to support profitable business growth, financial statements, budgets, strategic resource allocation, projections, financial analysis, capital expenditures and administrative functions. Works with the regional accounting team responsible for credit control, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as well as proper month, quarter and year end closing procedures. Leads a team of two that provides support in accounting and logistics.


1. Strategic Planning

  • Identifies opportunities for sales and profit improvement and supports development of long-term strategic plans.

  • Develops the analysis to support the long-range planning process with Thailand and SEA teams through the development of comprehensive financial models and a strategic roadmap of “how to achieve the goals”.

  • Collaborates with other functional areas (Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain) to identify areas of possible growth and expansion and new profit opportunities and also short and long term promotions and discounts.

2. Financial Analysis & Operation Effectiveness

  • Establishes procedures and systems necessary for concise, accurate, periodic financial reports on a timely basis in Thailand

  • Oversees business analytic functions; appraises the markets’ financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports that provide insights into the drivers of results.

  • Prepares financial analysis, capital budgeting requests and provides analytical support to the business.

  • Work closely with regional accounting team to ensure the accurate and smooth execution of accounting operations.

3. Budget and Forecast

  • Manage monthly/quarterly/annual review of business results and communicate business unit consolidated financial and operational performance trends, historical and forecasted via the established report.

  • Manage annual and quarterly planning processes through oversight of system input for accuracy and understanding of the key drivers of the annual plan.

  • Issues accurate financial forecasts on the current state of the business measured against the on-going business updates on a timely basis along with the appropriate qualitative / quantitative analysis and recommendations.

  • Oversees the budgeting and forecasting processes and interpretation and presentation of such information.

4. Internal Controls

  • Ensures all appropriate financial controls and legal/regulatory requirements are properly followed.

  • Works with Accounting team to develop policies and procedures for the establishment and maintenance of proper internal controls surrounding financial results throughout the covering markets, including compliance with corporate policies.

  • Key leader and champion in upholding Brown-Forman code of conduct, corporate governance, ethics, and diversity and inclusion

  • Coordinate with our Distribution Partners and other business partners to ensure the required documentation is received as per contract stipulations.

5. Pricing Structures

  • Oversees pricing and associated cost structures of brands and propose to the management team for consideration, e.g. SKU pricing management, etc.

6. Team Management & Development

  • Provides leadership and direction to direct reports

Qualifications & Requirements

Must Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree with at least 8-12 years relevant Finance and Accounting experience

  • Fluent English and Thai

  • Proven leadership and decision-making abilities

  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills with the ability to develop and present financial strategies and translate these into actionable plans

  • Understanding of financial regulatory requirements in covering markets

  • Strong consultative and diagnostic skills

  • Excellent quantitative/mathematical skills with strong ability to interpret financial results and analysis

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete diverse activities within an established time frame

  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts and with diverse cultures

  • High level of integrity and trust

  • Excellent manager and talent developer in a diverse culture - demonstrated commitment to providing regular, constructive feedback to teams; demonstrated coaching ability; ability to objectively assess both skills and potential of talents

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master in Business Administration with a concentration in finance

  • Prior Experience in the alcoholic beverage industry or a branded consumer products company/business

  • Reputable financial/accounting designations such as Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Prior experience establishing internal control structures and processes

  • Prior experience in growing businesses in emerging markets

  • Education/experience in international business
