Brown-Forman Processing Manager-Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee

Meaningful Work From Day One:

Responsible for coordinating, organizing and managing South Processing, Blending, and Single Barrel Processing activities under the general direction of the Senior Operations Manager. Implements processes and procedures, as directed by management, to assure departmental goals and objectives are met. Ensures a safe and stable production environment to maximize employee efforts and to maintain a positive work environment. Provides the required resources to support the natural work team. Directs the activities of South Processing, Blending, and Single Barrel Processing, ensuring compliance with company, corporate and government guidelines and policies in the most effective and cost effective way to ensure quality of the product and timely processing of orders.

What You Can Expect:

● Provides daily direction for a team consisting of 35 full-time operators and 10 temporary employees in the fulfillment of their job responsibilities. Develops schedules and staffs to meet production requirements. Supports team communication and assists with process problem resolution.

● Provides training and development to further the effectiveness of the natural work teams. Provides or arranges for training to be provided in job specific duties, safety, sanitation, or other related topics.

● Attends the weekly bottling production scheduling meeting and ensures a supply of processed product is delivered, to meet the needs of in-house bottling and the needs for bulk shipment exports. Plans daily processing operations in conjunction with warehouse planning, bottling planning, BFB, B-F customer service and outside agencies to deliver quality products on time and to budget.

● Coordinates with Warehousing Manager and Warehousing Supervisor on the selection of whiskies of sufficient volume and color for regauge to meet the bottling production plan. This involves the inventory of warehouses and the yield optimization barrels, to ensure appropriate color development during maturation and planning regauge from these warehouses and storage facilities.

● Identifies and implements systems and procedures for new products or processes while partnering with Engineering and/or R&D. Leading continuous improvement efforts of current systems and procedures including safety, efficiencies, and cost savings..

● Actively monitors processing operations to assure compliance to quality and processing standards while working with the Quality Control Department. Acts to improve and standardize production processes.

● Maintain responsibility for administrative functions, SAP system internally in the Processing Department to support processing operations. Develops and maintains current department operating and capital budgets. Monitors performance of the budget and adjusts to meet expectations. Manages raw materials inventory to minimize costs and seek cost reduction opportunities. Use of the P-CARD for limited supplies.

● Engage in food safety culture through support and participation of SQF activities

● Provides resources for continuous improvement of Food Safety system

● Performs as backup for any Food Safety role as listed on Food Safety Responsibility Organizational Chart

What You Bring to the Table:

● Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or Business related field plus 5 years in-depth production management/supervisory related experience

● Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

● Ability to work additional hours and/or shifts as required to meet departmental goals.

● Demonstrated positive leadership experience with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.

● Proficient computer skills

● Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with ability to develop written departmental procedures.

● Demonstrated analytical/mathematical skills

● Ability to understand complex piping/valve systems.

What Makes You Unique:

● Master’s Degree in an engineering or science field.

● Prior management/supervisory experience in an alcoholic beverage experience or logistics, planning and tank inventory management

● In depth knowledge of BATF requirements.

● Membership and participation in pertinent organizations related to this field.
